The Philippines was a major player in sweater manufacturing for many years. This changed as businesses slowly moved to countries where labor and raw material were more competitive. It was because of these conditions that Nooks was established in 2008. WHO WE ARE

Being the pioneers in the development of Pineapple fiber as Yarn for textile means years of toil and interaction with farmers, knitters, weavers and many like-minded individuals, coupled with challenges in the R&D. All these made us dream of finding ways to ensure long term livelihood for the many hands and many lives who depend on this industry by bringing to fore a globally competitive product. This is possible by modernizing centuries-old practices whilst protecting traditions and the environment. And by producing yarns and yarn blends naturally, we retain the fiber’s intrinsic characteristics and in a small way, do our part in protecting our already fragile resources. Unknowingly, our dream of protecting jobs has led us into creating products that are not onlyprice-point conscious but are also truly sustainable.

is our program where we take our part seriously in ensuring the continuity of knitting in the Philippines by partnering with micro enterprises ran by couples. We are constantly on the look out for new clients to widen our production line and expand our business through micro entrepreneurship.

Our PartnersFrom its inception, Nooks multiplied itself by helping establish home-

based micro enterprises to be its manufacturing partners. To date there are fourteen Suppliers located in the South of Manila particularly in Batangas, Laguna and Cavite provinces.

Behind each of these businesses is a husband and wife team chosen because of their lengthy exposure in the knitting industry as technical or quality assurance personnel. With this background and a relationship tested by time, it will be a strong foundation for Nooks to build upon.

These Suppliers are the backbone of our organization that seeks a second chance to surmount the economic conditions that have crippled aonce-proud industry.

Our PIÑA Yarn is spun from handscraped pineapple fiber and hand picked cotton.

Our blends include Abaca, wool, cashmere, polyester and acrylic. Depending on our customers specification.

Fiber is sourced from the farms located in different areas of the Philippines.
