BackgroundThe use of Krylon’s spray paint and

how it is used for one primary goal: protection against decay using Krylon’s spray paint that take unattractive items and make them beautiful/valuable again.

Krylon’s experiment involved taking a family’s old yard objects, spray painted over them, then sold those objects to the owner the family bought them from originally for a higher profit.

After this, Krylon set out for a new project...

The 690 Mile Yard SaleAfter the initial experiment with the first

family, Krylon decided to expand their product’s efficiency.

Krylon’s team of “Do It Yourself” experts drove a van up 690 miles across six states, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan, making it the world’s longest yard sale.

Krylon brought with them 127 disposable items and transformed them, depicting before and after photos. Krylon’s yard sale was across the entire length of the Route 127 corridor.

First Ever Pinterest Yard Sale (STEPPS)

The information about each product and image was used as social currency and depicted on Pinterest’s site.

The photos used on Pinterest were the updated products with Krylon’s spray paint that triggered the viewer to remember the product’s visual details

It went public through Pinterest which used to show the products and grow their demand.

The relevancy in Krylon’s spray paint increased through their postings and options to buy on Pinterest. It introduced another source of satisfying the demand for Krylon’s spray painted products and spray paint as well.

Results Krylon’s world record yard sale along with postings of their 127 objects

for sale on Pinterest were a success.

Through keeping the Krylon fan base engaged with regular real-time updates throughout the sale, Krylon saw more social media responses than they ever have before.

Krylon’s following on Pinterest increased by 400% and with their 200,000 dollar budget they gained 2.7 million dollars in earned media.

Also they were able to sell all 127 objects with excellent returns of profits and with the proceeds from those sales going to charity as well.
