Double Block and Bleed (DBB)Isolation, Testing, and Heat Treating

Team’s double-block-and-bleed (DBB) plugsimprove safety with two compression seals thatpositively isolate the section of pipe to be weld-ed from upstream gasses.

After the plug is in place and before welding,the chamber between the two seals can be pres-sure-tested with a small volume of water and ahand pump to ensure that positive isolation hasbeen achieved.

During welding, the plug vents upstream vaporsaway from weld areas through a hollow central port that also can be used to monitorupstream pressure.

Multiple uses for Team’s double blockand bleed plugFor hydro-testing after the weld cools, Teamrepositions the DBB plug over the weld area,injects a small volume of water, and pressurizesit with a hand pump. When the hydro test iscomplete, there’s only a small amount of liquidto dispose of – not a pipeful.

The DBB plug can also be used to isolate thewelded part of the pipe for heat treating. Theplug, set away from the heat-stress area, is notaffected.

Flange Weld Isolation and Testing

Team’s flange weld test plug enables the com-pany to monitor conditions upstream of the seal,isolate and purge the weld area, complete theweld, and hydro test to Code requirements withone tool which saves you time and expense.

Team’s flange plug isolates just the weld areaso there’s no need to fill the entire line or vesselto test it.

A key design feature of the flange weld plug is its high-lift seal. Because the seal can expand more, the tool has greater seal-to-pipeclearance, making it easy to move past the weld— meaning there’s no need to grind outexcess root penetration!
