New Australia Master Location Data (MLD)
AU7 for Master Location Data (MLD), is an address point level dataset for AUSTRALIA that delivers the highest precision coordinates. When using the Spectrum GeoEnrichment Module, Master Location Data for Australia adds a pbKey™ unique identifier to each address and named location to simplify linking to many Pitney Bowes and third party datasets. This helps to unlock a wealth of rich attributable information.
Postal Code Formatting Changes
Global Postal Code Standard: Brazil (BRA), Japan (JPN), and the Czech Republic (CZE) now adhere to the standard (typically noticed when spaces or hyphens are used in the postal code).
Examples: Geocoder now returns the postal code like this:
• Brazil's format: XXXXX-XXX; 27515 becomes 27515-000 • Czech Republic's format: XXX XX; 71600 becomes 716 00 • Japan's format: XXX-XXXX; 0788334 becomes 078-8334
Resultcode Changes
Brazil:
• When street geocoding a 5-digit input postalCode that matches to a candidate with a full 8-digit postalCode and the first 5 digits match, the resultCode no longer displays a "Z". For example an input address with postCode 27510 and a candidate with postCode 27510101 will not have a Z in the resultCode.
• Improved accuracy on the matches, reducing false positives
Thailand:
The H in the resultCode is now determined by considering both the plot and house. The combination also factors in the absence of the plot. The scenarios below highlight the impact on the resultCode.
Table 1: H Status By Scenario
Input Plot and House Candidate Plot and House H Status
HHouse only - house matches House Only
International Geocoding Data April 2019 Release Notes 3
Worldwide Geocoding Data
Input Plot and House Candidate Plot and House H Status
No H House only - house doesn't match House Only
No H Plot and House - house matches House Only
No H Plot and House - house doesn't match House Only
HPlot and House - both match Plot and House
No H Plot and House – Only house matches Plot and House
No H Plot and House – Neither matches Plot and House
No H House only – house matches Plot and House
Updates to Postal Geocode Output
When doing a postal geocode or when the fallback level is set to "Fallback to Postal", we return postaltown or town on output. Applies to Australia (AUS), Belgium (BEL), Brazil (BRA), Spain (ESP), France (FRA), Great Britain (GBR), India (IND), Italy (ITA), Japan (JPN), Luxembourg (LUX), Mexico (MEX), New Zealand (NZL), Peru (PER), Puerto Rico (PRI), Russia (RUS), Singapore (SGP), South Africa( ZAF), and United Arab Emirates (ARE).
Update to Peru (PER) formatted street address and formatted location address. The Formatted Street Addresss has been modified to contain Street Address, Locality (as opposed to just Street Address). The Formatted Location Address has been modified to contain Postcode Province (as opposed to Postcode Locality).
(GGS-specific) Get reverse geocodes to world boundaries
The new World Geocoder Reverse data set allows you to obtain reverse geocodes to world boundaries. The data includes administrative-level boundaries (state or province, district, town, locality and sub-locality) for countries all over the world (as well as a limited number of postal centroid boundaries).
If the data is available, and you have selected fallback to geographic or fallback to postal, you will get candidates (where available) from the new data set in one of these scenarios:
• Input country is given as “XWG” • A street level reverse geocode was attempted, but no candidate was found. (Either no data is
available for that country, or the point was too far from a street to find a street candidate).
Related precision codes:
• Postal-level reverse geocode in XWG returns “RZ”.
International Geocoding Data April 2019 Release Notes 4
Worldwide Geocoding Data
• Geographic-level reverse geocode returns one of the following:
• RG0 – country level (typically only used for small island countries where no other administrative divisions are in the data)
• RG1 – state or province level, corresponds to G1 in forward geocoding • RG2 – district (state or province subdivision) level, corresponds to G2 in forward geocoding • RG3 – city or town level , corresponds to G3 in forward geocoding • RG4 – locality (city/town subdivision) , corresponds to G4 in forward geocoding • RG5 – locality subdivision
Improved handling of Japanese descriptors (GUN, CHO, MACHI) when attached
For Japanese addresses, there may not be a separator between the name and the designator like MINAMIHOMMACHI. These records typically fail to geocode. Geocoder now looks for one of these descriptors (GUN, CHO, or MACHI) and inserts a hyphen before the descriptor, allowing the records to geocode successfully.
Enhancements in Geographic Matching for Mexico
Added SN as an alias for SAN and can now find matches for entries like SN ANDRES CHO, SN PEDRO TAPA, SN SALVADOR, SN SEB TECOMA, SN VICENTE EM, SN CRISTOBAL, and SN FELIPE DE

Datasets By Country
This table lists a number of characteristics about the country datasets provided in the April 2019 data refresh, including maximum precision, availability of postal data, and supported language. The refresh vintage is 201903.
Use these datasets for geocoding with Enterprise Geocoding Module. Interactive datasets are identified by a ✓ in the Interactive column. These are companion datasets for performing type ahead interactive geocoding with the Global Interactive Geocoding stage (available in the Global Geocoding Module beginning with version 12.0 SP2 of the Spectrum™ Technology Platform) and from the Global Geocoding API v2.0.
Note: Occasionally a dataset may undergo a change, such as a new product code or vendor, that results in a new label for the SPD. This change will be noted in the table below for the impacted dataset(s). If you had the old dataset configured in your database you will need to re-configure it in Management Console to pick up the new label. If you have previously used the old dataset in a dataflow, you must now re-align the dataflow with the new dataset label. In Enterprise Designer double-click on the geocoding stage that uses the dataset. In the Options dialog, check the Override default options, then check and uncheck the Override the default database search list. This will refresh the dataset list with the name of the new dataset.

Bug Fixes
This release includes these fixes for geocoding with Spectrum™ Technology Platform.
• (GN-29806) All Countries: Some customers' systems introduce 'null' when creating a single line input address. 'Null' is now ignored in input addresses for all countries. For example, an address of
3RD AVENUE,ANNA NAGAR null null CHENNAI 600102 --> returns Z1; ignoring 'null null' returns S4.
• (GN-30731) Belgium: Geographic and postal fallbacks no longer return Belgium (BEL) as country when they are in Luxembourg (LUX).
• (GN-29762 / GN-27993) India: Geocoder has now been optimized to get better throughput for single data or multiple data sets.
• (GN-30923) Indonesia: Geocoder improvements for street geocoding. • (GN-1116) Japan: Now handles special character “−“ (U+2122 ) in input address. • (GN-1107) Japan: Input of Kyoto as AreaName1 or AreaName2 will now return a G1 candidate. • (GN-21042) Japan: "Kashiwa-shi" in county/city field now returns candidate in multiline.
• (GN-991) Japan: Geographic geocoding / fallback now returns G2 result without Areaname1 on input
• (GN-28261 / GN-26752 / GN-27753) Japan: Enhancements to the Japan geocoder improved scoring and matching logic and now returns better matching results.
• (GN-27766 / GN-28014 / GN-28004 / GN-156) Mexico: Improved the Mexico geocoder by adding support for multiple abbreviations, updating the parsing and scoring logic, and optimizing for overall performance improvements.
• (GN-31094) Peru: PER formatted street address has been modified to include street address, locatlity, and foramtted location address. Location address has been modified to include Postcode Province. Note: there is an outstandng data bug related to province which has not been fixed for the April release.
• (GN-28196) Russia: Improved the Russian geocoder to better handle addresses that have apostrophes in area names.
• (GN-31013 / GN-26640 ) Singapore: Singapore address geocode now returns "Singapore" in the City column.
• (GN-30579) Taiwan: Locality column is now mapped to AreaName4. • (GN-30926) Ukraine: Cities "Mizhhir'ya" and "Kozyatyn" now return candidates again.

Data Setup
SPD data for EGM and Interactive is extracted to a location on your system and configured for use. There is no installation in the traditional sense. The procedure differs depending on your version of the Spectrum™ Technology Platform.
Spectrum versions 2018.2, 12.2 and 12.1 provide an extraction and configuration using Management Console. See Setting up SPD databases for Spectrum 2018.2 and v12.0 or greater on page 21.
Saving Databases
Be aware that any data folders under a Spectrum installation will be removed when Spectrum is uninstalled. To retain the data for future use, consider archiving the SPD in a location outside of the Spectrum installation. To do this, set the spectrum.data.manager.archive.data property to true located in the \server\app\conf\spectrum-container.properties.
You can also change the data repository location by providing a path in spectrum.data.manager.storage.directory.
Using Older Datasets From 12.0 and Earlier
If you upgrade to 12.1 or 12.2, you can use database resources from earlier versions of Spectrum. The legacy database resources will be visible in Management Console and available for use alongside any new data you installed. If you decide you don't want the legacy datasets associated with the database resource, in Management Console's Spectrum Database page, select the database resource and click Modify. From the Edit Database page, clear the checkbox next to the dataset(s) you no longer want in the database. The legacy datasets will no longer be available.

Worldwide Geocoding Data
Setting up SPD databases for Spectrum 2018.2 and v12.0 or greater
Follow this procedure to extract and configure SPD datasets that have not been set up previously. This is done using Management Console.
To set up and configure an SPD database:
1. Update your Spectrum installation with all product updates (patches) available for your release. 2. Download the database .spd to a location of your choice. The database will be
downloaded as an SPD file, which is essentially a zip file with an .spd extension. If you downloaded from eStore or Software Data MarketPlace (SDM), the .spd will be inside a .zip file. Extract it to a temporary location.
3. Copy the .spd into the Spectrum server's dataimport folder or a location of your choice. The dataimport folder for a default installation is located in C:\Program Files\Pitney Bowes\Spectrum\server\app\dataimport.. Once the .spd is in the folder, it will automatically be extracted to Spectrum's data repository at C:\Program Files\PitneyBowes\Spectrum\server\app\repository\datastorage\geocoding-all\geocoding-all.
Note: The entire contents of the SPD will be extracted to the dataimport folder or your custom location. You cannot pick which datasets are extracted. This is a change from the past when dbloader allowed you to choose.
Note: The SPD will be uninstalled from the default Spectrum location during an uninstallation of Spectrum. If you want to change the default data repository or to archive the .spd, Spectrum provides the spectrum-container.properties file under \server\app\conf that you can edit. See the properties spectrum.data.manager.storage.directory and spectrum.data.manager.archive.data. Restart the server when done.
4. To configure a new database in Management Console, choose Resources > Spectrum Databases.
5. Click Add , provide a name for the database, and choose the appropriate module from the list.
6. Select the dataset(s) that you would like to add to the database by checking the box next to the name. Save the database when finished.
7. To reconfigure a database resource in Management Console, select the database from the list.
Click Modify . Change the name and select and/or unselect the datasets you want. Save the database resource when finished. You cannot rename an existing database and modify it.

Worldwide Geocoding Data
Reconfiguring a Database with the Administration Utility
Spectrum's Administration Utility provides commands that allow you to reconfigure an existing database from the command line. For example, you may need to deploy the data to multiple places in a clustered environment. The process involves exporting the database properties to a file, then importing the properties file to configure the database.
To reconfigure a previously configured SPD database:
1. At the Administration Utility command line run the egmglobaldb export command. This writes out a file that contains the properties of the database and paths for the new location. For example: egmglobaldb export --o outputpath/egmGlobalDbResource.txt.
The output file can be named anything. It will be a JSON formatted file. If an output path is not provided, the file is written to the current folder.
2. To configure the database, use the egmglobaldb import command to import the database properties and configure the database. The JSON file from the export is the input for the import operation. For example: egmglobaldb import --f egmGlobalDbResource.txt.
For more information about these commands and the Administration Utility in general, see the Spectrum™ Technology PlatformSpectrum Administration Guide.
