Pixel Detector System (Barrel & Forward)
• Beam pipe bake out insertion/removal of pixel detector
• Supply tube: power, cooling & optical links

• Installation BPIX & FPIX in July 2008 few days each !
• FPIX removal and reinsertion in Spring 09 was fast !
New 4 Layer Pixel System should exploit potential new beam pipe!
however, stay compatible with present beam pipe! Worm gear

Inner shield (C-fibre + Al-foil)
Tolerances for insertion are mm ! any new detector must stay within exact mechanical dimensions
Present BPIX System Central beam pipe section has:
• cylindrical Beryllium pipe length = +/- 180cm
rinner=29mm , twall = 800m
• conical stainless stell section = 4.6
Tolerance budget during insertion is critical issue
Layer Radius 1 44mm 2 73mm 3 102mm
Clearance in end-position ~ 7.5mm
Inner shield ri = 37.3mm

Beam pipe router = 29.8mm
Inner shield rinner = 37.3mm

Worm Gear Adjustment of BPIX
• For next pixel detector needs position adjustable ball bearing rollers
• Compensate for deviations of beam pipe to tracker mechanics (pixel rails)
• Close detector in final position around actual beam pipe position
• Propose to use worm gear mechanics (remote adjustement ) for closing half shells around beam pipe.
