Pegboard• Use a pegboard to teach borrowing and carrying. • Use masking tape to divide the pegboard into three rows

and three columns with nine holes in each square • Draw an arrow from right to left on a piece of tape that

separates the bottom third. (the equals sign)

Place Value Cards • Make cards with numbers on one side and tallies for the

number of tens, hundreds, and so on in that number on the other side.

• Strings can be attached to the cards for stringing beads to represent the number in each column.
