National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is an Apex Body for training the professionals in upcoming power areas. This has been proved in last five decades service to the Nation. With the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India to empower the Power Sector with Renewable Energy, NPTI has taken first time in India a new program in Renewable Energy & Grid Interface Technologies as a Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC). The Post Graduate Diploma Course in Renewable Energy & Grid Interface Technologies has been approved by the Governing Council with an objective to train the Graduate Engineers in the related area of technology of Renewable Energy. The present batch will be completing the Course in August-2018. The design of the Course has been primarily focussed on the fundamentals of the Renewable Energy and associated grid technologies supplemented with on-site training of Engineers with detailed insight experience of Renewable Energy especially Solar and Wind. The other Renewable Energies such as Solar Thermal Energy System, Biomass, Geothermal, Tidal and Wave Energy, Small Hydro etc. have also been covered upto the requirement in-depth.

The PGDC candidates of NPTI have been rigorously trained in the areas of starting from planning, design, installation, integration operation and also developing the overall project as Consultant. The insight management of Solar Thermal Plant and Rooftop Solar Plant have been widely covered during the entire course structure. With the upto date technology background, the PGDC candidates of NPTI in Renewable Energy and Grid Interface Technologies are fully competent and will be an asset for the organisations involved in Renewable Energy.

The main aim of the course is to create a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for serving to the State, Central and Private Power Utilities and allied Industries etc. All these organizations shall obviously prefer these trained Graduate Engineers as these are readily trained manpower. This PG diploma satisfies the mandatory requirement of Indian Electricity Rules.

1. To create trained engineers who can contribute to the sector by utilising their skills and knowledge for erection, commissioning and construction work in the existing as well as upcoming power plants.

OBJECTIVE

PROGRAM STRUCTURENPTI recently launched a One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Renewable Energy & Grid Interface Technologies (RE&GIT) first time for Graduate/Post Graduate Engineers at its Corporate Office, Faridabad. This course has divided in to Two-Semesters each has 26 weeks duration. First Semester deals with Energy Resources and Conventional Energy Systems, Applied Heat and Power Technology, Legislative and Regulatory Framework, Managerial and Interpersonal Skills, Energy Economics, Communication Skills and Technical Writing, Solar Thermal Systems, Solar Photo-Voltaic Systems, Grid Interface Technologies-I, Tariff and Commercial Aspects, Contracts Management, On Job Training / Visits to Solar Thermal/ Solar PV and other RE sites, Laboratory work, Internship & Semester Exam.Second Semester deals with Wind Energy, Small Hydro, Bio Mass & Bio Energy and Waste to Energy, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells, Geo-thermal, Tidal and Wave Energy, Co-Generation & Hybrid Systems, Energy Storage Technologies, Appraisal & Financing of Renewable Energy Projects, Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development, Grid Interface Technologies-II, Smart Power Flow Controllers and Intelligent Automation, On Job Training/Visits/Project Work/Internship & Semester Exam.

NPTI's Corporate Centre campus is spread over a picturesque landscape of about 15 acres in Faridabad in the suburbs of New Delhi in the National Capital Region (NCR). The campus is located, just about 5kms from New Delhi – Haryana border, about 30kms from the International Airport and 25 kms from New Delhi Railway Station. The Campus houses the Institute building, Guest House, Hostels, Sports facilities and Residential quarters for the employees. The main Institute building houses lecture halls, Syndicate Room, Board Room, Library, a Real-time, Full-scope & DDC based Dual facility 500 MW Training Simulator, a 430 MW Full Scope Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Simulator, IT Centre, and the associated offices etc. A centrally air conditioned 275 seat capacity Auditorium with latest Audio/Video System has been established. A Conference Hall (55 seats) is also available for holding seminars, workshops and conferences. NPTI has exclusive multi-media Computer Based Training (CBT) Packages Development Centre. A GIS Resource Centre and a Computer Lab with 120 latest computer machines has also been established at the Corporate Office, Faridabad.

Well-furnished Executive Hostel and Trainees Hostel with lodging and boarding facilities are available to accommodate about 550 trainees at NPTI Complex, Faridabad. Separate Girl's hostel with a capacity of 25 inmates is also available for female trainees. The campus is enabled with high speed Wi-Fi connection.

NPTI's Corporate Centre library has a large collection of books and video packages on RE&GIT, Modern Power Station Technology, various branches of Engineering, Computer Sciences, Industrial Relations, Management, Power Reforms, Regulatory issues, Attitudinal Reorientation etc. It also subscribes to a number of Indian and foreign technical journals and periodicals. The Library has subscription to on-line journals like IEEE (ASPP), IEEE (POPc), Emerald, Cengage, J-Gate which meet the mandatory AICTE requirements as well as give access to the latest in research and case studies, interviews on various power and management journals. This facility has been provided to all students, faculties and trainees in the Campus.As many as 85 Technical Manuals/Books have been published by NPTI

with lucid presentations to enhance the conceptual understanding of various sub-systems. These are available at nominal prices for procurement by Power Utilities and Industries.

Indoor and outdoor, sports and games facilities such as Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Carom etc., have been developed and students/trainees are encouraged to avail these facilities. A full-fledged Gym has been set up for the trainees. Yoga classes are conducted to keep the students physically and mentally fit and to reduce stress.The Common Room and Gymnasium facilities at the Corporate Office, Faridabad have been renovated and the state-of-the-art facilities have been provided.
