Fast Data Retrieval on File Systems Making Use of Parallel Architecture of GPU: The project makes use of the highly parallel structure of processing cores of the GPU to perform file searching instead of traditionally doing it on the CPU. The indexed file system is sent to the GPU, where kernel programs are run on a large number of threads in parallel. It can sort and exclude a large amount of data much quicker than a CPU based approach.

Technologies Used: C++, CUDA, Custom made database.

3D Modeling in Virtual Reality Using Object Tracking and Path Tracking: The project implements the integration of Virtual Reality with 3D Modeling softwares improving the 3D viewing perspective. This reduces the hardware requirements and increases the affordability of the system. Architectural & Automobile designing and 3D animation are the main applications. Technologies Used: Android Studio, Unity 3D, C Sharp.

PPG Based Primary Diagnostic Unit Using IoT: A portable non-invasive system for acquiring PPG from a patient’s fingertip. The inference from the system is sent to the server through inbuilt Wi-Fi module of Raspberry Pi and a GUI which is a web app. Distant patient monitoring is made possible by incorporating IoT. This system reduces hardware requirements, increases the affordability and ease of use of the system.

Technologies Used: Raspberry Pi 3b, GUI, IoT, TCRT 5000 Sensor.

In-Ear Acquisition of Electroencephalogram: An effective system to acquire the EEG from the ear lobe and thereby detect epilepsy. Detection of epileptic seizures will cause an alarm to set off and also a message to be sent to the saved contacts with the patients GPS location. By the application of IoT, patient monitoring becomes much more effortless and affordable. Technology Used: MATLAB

Motion Tracker with Face Recognition and Alert System: An intelligent surveillance system that melds motion detection, face recognition and an alert system. The system uses background subtraction method to determines the level of

activity. Linear Binary Pattern analysis is used for face recognition to distinguish between authorized personals and intruders. An alert message is given if an intruder is detected.

Technologies Used: OpenCV, Image processing, Haar Cascade Algorithm, Raspberry Pi 3, GSM.

Auditory Augmented Reality System: The project aims at modeling and generating virtual acoustic cues for points of relevance in the field of vision. Audio cues are synthesised from the point sources taken as the virtual sound source in the field of vision. This device can help the visually impaired to acquire a

better perception of their surroundings and thereby improve their quality of life.

Technologies Used: OpenCV, Signal processing, Augmented Reality, Spatial Audio Synthesis.

Ripple Free 36 Pulse Power Converter: A system which reduces the harmonics in input power using a ripple free DC power supply with 36 pulse converter. A special type transformer called delta- fork connected transformer is designed and

developed to have better power quality conditions at the point of common coupling. Results indicate that total harmonic distortion of input current is very less for the proposed topology at variable loads.

Technology Used: Harmonic Analyzer

Control of Inverted Pendulum: Control of an Inverted Pendulum is a Control Engineering problem based on flight simulation of rocket or missile during initial stages of flight. The project aims to stabilize the inverted pendulum such that the angle of pendulum is controlled quickly and accurately so that it is

always erected in its inverted position during the action of any external disturbance.

Technologies Used: Pulse Width Modulation, Arduino.

Disease Prediction From Medical Records Using Automatic Text Region Extraction and Classification:The project showcases an automatic document processing system for the extraction of data obtained in printed medical laboratory results thereby enabling efficient management of information. Layout analysis for the identification of the tables in the document, extraction and classification of laboratory results for applications are the image preprocessing steps involved. The retrieved data is stored in XML format for the ease of sharing and can be used for prediction of diseases with the help of a classifier.

Technology Used: Document Image Processing

Automatic Classification of Human Body Postures: Using computers to recognise human postures from an image file can lead to the development of an automatic surveillance system. This process uses images extracted from a fixed camera video and uses a background subtraction technique for human body segmentation.

Technologies Used: Truncated SVD, Artificial Neural Network.

Production and Testing of Biofuel from Waste Paper: The yield of Bioethanol from corn and sugar increases the risk of causing a global food shortage. In this context, as an alternative to conventional raw materials, Lignocellulosic biomass such as waste paper is used. In this project, Pretreatment, Hydrolysis and Fermentation are the steps involved in the production of Bioethanol. Bioethanol thus produced can be blended with petrol and can be used as an alternative fuel in conventional petrol engines, resulting in better fuel economy and emission control.

Technology Used: Microbial Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Materials

Heat Transfer in Radiator with Graphene Nanoparticles in Coolant: This study adopts graphene nanofluids dispersed in water as the base fluid to enhance the heat transfer performance of a flat tube automobile radiator. For different nanofluid concentrations and varying Reynolds numbers, the effect on heat transfer enhancement is analysed and studied.

Technology Used: Computational Fluid Dynamics

Machine Learning System to Quantitatively Distinguish Alzheimer’s Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia by MR Images:This project aims to develop an automated system to identify Alzheimer’s Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia quantitatively and help a Radiologist in diagnosis. The MRI’s are classified using different pattern classification tools like SVM and PNN Deep learning algorithms. In the next stage, they undergo white matter and gray matter segmentation to identify the regions of interest.

Technologies Used: Support Vector Machine, Probabilistic Neural Network.

Virtual Reality Interface on FPGA:This project focuses on designing, verifying and implementing the VR interface on FPGA, that aids in delivering very high resolutions to the display panel. The view-port being rendered on the server, which contains the full frame data, is sent to the Head Mounted Device display via the path including FPGA. Such VR based devices can be utilized for applications requiring Ultra High Definition resolutions like gaming, smart devices, HMDs and disaster management training.

Technologies Used: Kintex UltraScale FPGA, Xilinx ISE, SimVision v15.2.

Counterfeit Currency Detection Based on Optical Image Processing:This project employs one of the simplest and fastest methods to detect counterfeit currencies by just using Watermark, Security Thread and Optically Variable Ink Security. The Mahatma Gandhi portrait watermark is extracted, processed and compared to carry out the analysis. The process starts from image acquisition to calculation of the intensity of each extracted feature. The system is capable of extracting features even if the note is scribbled.

Technologies Used: Optical Image Processing, Matlab.
