Lomonosov(Oraniembaum) Introduction This place can be visited in summer and early autumn.It is situated on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland.This town is very peacful and great place where you can go for a walk and spend a very good time. Historical outlook Lomonosov (before 1948: Oranienbaum) is a town under the jurisdiction of St. Petersburg, Russia. It was founded in1710. Oranienbaum was till 1727 a village of Prince Menshikov. Since 1796 belonged to grand duke Alexander Pavlovichu (to the future emperor Alexander I), since 1831 — to his brother to grand duke Michael Pavlovichu and its successors. The Great Palace with the Lower Park is an outstanding artistic complex of the first quarter of the eighteenth century. It was built in 1710-25 opposite Kronstadt, in the neighbourhood of the royal residence Peterhof, by the architects Giovanni Mario Fontana and Gottfried Johann Schadel and was intended for Alexander Menshikov, a close associate of Peter the Great.
