The park also has boat launches for paddlers, fishing spots, and space to just sit under a tree and have a picnic. And if you have a bit more time, walk or ride across the Bikeway bridge and take a quick stroll through the historic Ashton Mill Village on the other side of the Blackstone River. If you have a half day to visit, you will also want to visit Slater Mill Historic Site - America’s first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill. Here a series of outside signs tell you the evolution of industry along the Pawtucket Falls. Then take a tour of the Slater Mill (fee charged) to see the evolution evolution from hand-crafted textiles, to those made by water-powered machines.
