Which types of tech tools you incorporated :

power point for investigating the teaching career

sidebar slideshow (pictures of me) on my about me page for some flair

inserted videos from YouTube on certain pages throughout the course (something new, I had to learn how to do this; I felt it added flair and personality to my pages as music is such a big part of my life)

created a video using iMovie for my Unit 2 job interview project (also a new skill as I had to learn how to properly use a camera as well as edit a video using that program)

added a calendar to my home page showing when I posted what

added a “hits” monitor on the side bar which shows me how many hits (views, likes, comments…etc.) each post or page has (this was cool to install and though I had to learn how to do it, I am glad that I did.

for my about me page I incorporated an image with text about me which I created using one of the internet links provided at the beginning of the course.

finally, above on this page I created a brainstorm image using the site ‘Bubbl’ to communicate which courses I was thinking of taking and what careers I was thinking of pursuing with those courses.

My best project:

One of my best projects was probably my interview project in unit 2. I think it was probably one of my best because I put a lot of thought into it, approached and executed the project with a creative mind as well as because I put so much effort into it. I created an interview video with paper characters and a store background which I had created myself. I think that i used my creative abilities as well as demonstrated my understanding of the course material by stating and justifying what makes and breaks an interview.

Changes & Improvements:

I made changes to my ePortfolio by adding more tech components such as the widgets on the side bar, videos in my projects and pages as well as brain storm bubbles created with the help of recommended websites. I also added a bit more to my about me page to make my website a little more personal, for example I added a slide show of pictures that showed a little bit more of who I am and what I am about. I also added a few more facts about me.

Overall thoughts about Planning 10

My overall thoughts and feelings towards this course are positive. It was the first online course that I have ever taken which was a great experience as I learnt the self discipline, organization and technical understanding that comes with completing a course online. I think that this will greatly aid me in the future as I am more comfortable and willing to do online courses. I actually found that they worked really well for me as I like working towards big deadlines at my own pace rather than working towards many small deadlines at a fast pace; this is something that I learnt about myself throughout this process. I found the units to be interesting and enlightening. I learnt a lot about myself in the first unit, I learnt a lot about what my future may look like in the second unit, I learnt all about taxes and money in the third unit (a topic I previously had very little knowledge in), I learnt about drug awareness in the fourth unit – this helped me to understand the kinds of hazards and substances that I may come across in the future (giving me reason and skills to avoid them!) and finally, in the final unit I learned what I needed to do to properly prepare myself to enter the world of adulthood. All of these units taught me invaluable things about myself as well as their subject matter which will surely aid me endlessly throughout my life. Though it was challenging to finish this course on top of all my other school work and activities; I learnt that with organization and self discipline I can accomplish a lot! Overall, I would say that this has been a very positive learning experience for me.
