We provide services to developer and landowner clients throughout the project lifecycle and also work for local authorities, government regulators and community organisations. Our services are primarily focused on taking energy and infrastructure development projects from feasibility and inception through the consenting process and into construction and operation. We also provide specialist input, working in tandem with our power systems consultants on strategic, regulatory and policy projects relating to energy, analysing potential development scenarios, environmental and socio-economic impacts.

Service: Multi-site Hydrogen Refuelling Station planning applicationsClient: ITM Power
TNEI prepared and submitted 15 planning applications across 11 sites in the UK for the construction of Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) on behalf of ITM Power (a key driver behind developing optimum technology for hydrogen fuel cell cars). TNEI’s extensive experience and expertise in this field aided a smooth transition through the planning consenting process.
TNEI’s expertise in this complex technology ensured robust and detailed applications, including on complex or contentious sites, to be submitted to the respective local authorities. Applications have included a bespoke planning, design and access statement including full details of the technology and how this would work in the context of the site. Timescales were met in delivering the applications and TNEI guided the applications through the local planning system, with continued liaison with the local authority up to determination.
Service: Battery energy storage applicationClient: RES Port of Tyne
TNEI co-ordinated and prepared the submission of an application for battery energy storage on behalf of RES Group at the Port of Tyne in North East England. A number of environmental studies were undertaken onsite which were managed by TNEI, with a full and detailed suite of documents prepared to support the submission. This included a dedicated planning statement examining the proposal in light of energy and planning policy and setting out the case for the overall development. As this was a fairly new technology, proposals were unfamiliar to local planning officers and TNEI was able to offer invaluable, intuitive advice and expertise throughout the planning process.
TNEI has prepared a number of battery energy storage planning applications on behalf of RES and has also supported the understanding and environmental feasibility of large scale and co-location of battery storage projects.

Jason has over 8 years’ experience in the environmental consultancy sector, working on Environmental Impact Assessments, environmental safeguarding and environmental due diligence projects for energy related developments of varying scales. He is an Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) accredited Registered EIA Practitioner, Chartered Environmentalist and Full IEMA Member. Jason has
extensive experience of coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments, technical review of a range of environmental assessments, production and review of environmental statements and consenting documents and undertaking a range of topic specific assessments. He has an excellent understanding of renewable energy generation and has also managed numerous small scale projects, tailoring proportionate scopes of assessment and reporting to the scale and type of proposal.
