FUNCTIONALITIES
GLUTALYS® HQD is a gluten-rich, non-hydrolyzed protein source from
corn, intended for soil and plant
nutrition. GLUTALYS® HQD is mainly composed of prolamine-type
proteins that are rich in leucine.
The other substances, namely albumin, globulin and glutelin, have
relatively high levels of lysine and
tryptophan. Eventually, glutamic acid is the most represented amino
acid.
The low water solubility of GLUTALYS® HQD enables a slow release of
nitrogen for long-term nutrition
of soils and plants, while the soluble nitrogen fraction makes it a
good short-term solution for easily
accessible nitrogen supplementation. Moreover, GLUTALYS® HQD
exhibits a long shelf-life as a bagged
dry material, allowing it to be stored easily and applied to the
soil when needed.

DEFINITION Polyols are substances obtained by reducing simple or
complex sugars. The majority of these products are derived from
starch, vastly contained in cereals like corn or wheat. Thanks to
their specific properties, Roquette polyols can be used in various
applications such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals
and the agricultural market. Polyols are described in the
literature as agents helping the plant resist abiotic stress (e.g.,
high osmotic pressure). Moreover, polyols like mannitol and
sorbitol perform well during a freeze-drying process as they impact
the osmotic pressure of the solution: • Mannitol: freeze-dried
powder. • Sorbitol: protein stabilization allowing storage at low
and ultra-low temperature.
FUNCTIONALITIES Our polyols, like sorbitol and mannitol, are
commonly used for their humectant and biostimulant properties in
the plant care industry. As the global leader in polyols, Roquette
has a strong expertise and technical skills for producing high-
quality products, using time-tested methods that guarantee the
reproducibility.
PRODUCT RANGE NEOSORB®
NEOSORB® is obtained by the hydrogenation of D-glucose, which is
produced by the hydrolysis of cereal starch. NEOSORB® is a
colorless and odorless syrup. It can also be further crystallized
through a dehydration step, in order to form a white odorless
sorbitol powder.
NEOSORB® is a hexitol, with a chemical structure similar to that of
other polyols, such as glycerol, pentaerythritol,
trimethylolpropane and glycols. It contains two primary and four
secondary alcohol groups, providing unique properties to the
molecule.
NEOSORB® is know for its • high water solubility • chemical
stability • thermal stability • preservative functionality

POLYOLS PRODUCT RANGE PEARLITOL®
PEARLITOL® is used as an excipient in numerous commercial
formulations and is known for its low hygroscopicity.
Roquette produces mannitol through a catalytic hydrogenation of
glucose and mannose solution, obtained from starch. Mannitol is
isolated from the concentrated hydrogenation solution thanks to its
lower solubility in water compared to sorbitol.

FUNCTIONALITIES Sodium gluconate, gluconic acid and
glucono-delta-lactone are used in a variety of plant care
applications. Often used as a chelant or a solubilization agent,
gluconate products help in nutrient availability and uptake while
improving the efficacy of slow-release formulations.
The gluconate family of products are often used as a progressive
acidifier and chelating agent for mineral
and metal ions.
DEFINITION Gluconic acid is first obtained through the oxidation of
D-glucose via a fermentation process. It is then crystallized into
glucono-delta-lactone through a dehydration step.
Glucono-delta-lactone is a cyclic ester of gluconic acid.
Roquette, a major player on the global gluconate market,
commercializes this product as a highly pure white crystalline
powder, offering high-performing packaging that prevents lumping.

FUNCTIONALITIES
SOLUTAB® is widely used in its solid form as an aid in active
ingredient dissolution for a variety of applications. It can be
applied in direct compression applications, but also in wet and dry
granulation.
SOLUTAB® is composed of croscarmellose sodium, an insoluble
hydrophilic polymer. The polymer structure facilitates both
capillary wicking and swelling to achieve high capacity water
absorption, resulting in a radial expansion. This leads to swelling
and the rapid breakdown of formulations, with a high efficiency,
even when used in low doses.
SOLUTAB® helps the dissolution by preventing a gel formation that
would encapsulate the active ingredient.

GLYCOLYS®
FUNCTIONALITIES
Reliable super-disintegrant efficiency comes with Roquette’s
long-standing experience in the field. GLYCOLYS® is a
super-disintegrant derived from reticulated carboxymethylstarch
sodium salt.
GLYCOLYS® has been developed and produced exclusively by Roquette
for more than 30 years. The experience gained by Roquette with our
GLYCOLYS® range of sodium starch glycolates has made the company a
supplier of choice when help is needed to develop
formulations.
DEFINITION Roquette has developed an optimized production process
for ideal disintegration properties:
• To maximize the surface exposed to water potato starch is the
preferred raw material for GLYCOLYS®, as its granules are
relatively large.
• To avoid viscosity development during the disintegration process,
which would delay bioactive compound dissolution, cross-linking is
performed on potato starch.
• For a maximum speed of disintegration, the starch ability to
swell is significantly increased by rendering it more hydrophilic
through a carboxymethylation step.
• For a maximum purity in our GLYCOLYS® products, neutralization
and washing is performed.

FUNCTIONALITIES Maltodextrins are frequently introduced as
stabilization or delivery agents and as nutritional solutions in
the agriculture industry. Our plant-based solutions perform well as
additives in the production and formulation of biopesticides,
microbial biostimulants and various bioactive ingredients. Our
range of maltodextrins enable the encapsulation of various
compounds and provide:
• Final product stabilization • Production of live culture
solutions • Protectant during freeze-drying • Production of actives
• Ambient storage formulation • Encapsulation of microbials
Maltodextrin is widely used for the granulation or encapsulation of
a large range of molecules. Thanks to their high solubility, pea
maltodextrins are specifically equipped to handle liquid dosage
forms or any form requiring complete solubilization.
Our maltodextrins are branded GLUCIDEX® and correspond to specific
starch hydrolysis processes.
Grades of GLUCIDEX®, standardized as Dextrose Equivalent (DE), are
used to meet the saccharide and oligosaccharide needs for multiple
agricultural application and processes.

FUNCTIONALITIES Roquette has developed a wide range of carriers for
encapsulation, using a variety of vegetable sources. Our solutions
are designed to solubilize a large range of molecules.
Encapsulation agents and carriers can be chosen based on a variety
of criteria, including oxidation resistance, amylose content,
solubility, dispersion, viscosity and impact on glass transition
points.
DEFINITION KLEPTOSE® Betacyclodextrin is very stable in alkaline
conditions or in the presence of enzymes (amylases). The rigid
truncated cone shape of the betacyclodextrin structure limits the
interaction between hydrophobic parts of the active compound and
the surrounding aqueous environment.
Betacyclodextrin is frequently used for its inclusion and
association capabilities, helping with:
• The delivery of hydrophobic ingredients.
• The solubilization of organic compounds.
• The stabilization of volatile compounds.
• The protection of sensitive molecules against oxygen, light or
temperature variations, etc.
• The emulsification of lipid-based products.
• The carrier for pesticide/insecticide molecules.
