FOS DISTRIPORT developed by Port of Marseille - Fos on its own private land (180 ha), located less than a mile from the existing and projected (Fos 2XL new project operational in 2011) container terminals, both with rail link capacity; extension of 80 hectares projected for 2013. Over 300,000 sqm already built, 200,000 in project.
CLESUD 300 ha, over 600,000 sqm built nearly all occupied, located near Salon de Provence, 5 miles from the A7/ A8,/A54 motorway nexus to all directions. CLESUD is mainly dedicated to land based logistics (rail and road).
ECOPOLE in Saint Martin de Crau:Over 200 ha on the M54 Motorway, midway between A9 and A8, with over 400,000 sqms of warehouses.Warehouses handle goods both from maritime and land origin. A 140 ha extension is in project for 2011.
Training is available at all required levels of competence:- Warehouses operators, truck drivers, order processing, team leaders managers.- International trade: freight forwarding, custom agents, shipping agents, insurance expert, airlines agents…- Portuary operations: crane operators, maintenance staff, security staff, stevedoring etc.
Provence Universities deliver high level diplomas in international trade and logistics, supply chain management, IT systems applied to logistics.CRETLOG is a very active teaching, research and consultancy university department on management and strategic research applied to logistics. It is located in Aix en Provence, with 40 researchers and doctorate students working on macro and micro economics subjects, for public or private clients.
IT companies are also very active on logistic linked hardware (especially in the RFID fi eld, whose National Technical Center is located in Provence) and software, like GYPTIS for on-line solutions to operators (agents, freight forwarders, customs) in portuary goods processing.
