Manhattan ValleyCat Rescue

Manhattan Valley Cat Rescue is a 50 Ic3 group formed by neighborhood volunteers who united to easethe plight of abandoned cats and kittens living on the streets of Manhattan Valley (100 Street to 110Street, between Amsterdam Avenue and Central Park West). This is an area which has undergone muchgentrification, and with that, many of the poorer residents have been forced out, some leaving their catsbehind. This has also resulted in many of the vacant lots and abandoned buildings disappearing, places thatstray cats called home. As options for these cats shrink, so do their chances of survi ving on the streets, andit is with this in mind that we are dedicated to rescuing them. Beyond this we also work with neighborhoodstores, to convince them to neuter and properly care for their store cats. In over 10 years of rescue work wehave saved almost 500 cats from the streets of our neighborhood. Through the use of a small network offoster homes and donated space we are currently caring for over 60 cats. Many of these have not been able toget adopted due to health or behavioral problems and since we are strictly no kill, we are committed to caringfor these cats, regardless of their adoptability. We pledge to keep them safe, happy and healthy. All ourrescues are fully vetted, neutered, and fed only top quality healthy diets. Our long term goal is to acquire landto set up a spacious sanctuary for our rescues, so that they can live out their lives in safety and comfort.

The challenge of finding a pet a great home is verydifferent from just finding a home for a pet. Pet-I-Care'ssuccess is not measured by the numbers adopted, butby the quality and care that is put into every animalthat comes to us, which is proven by our almostnon-existent return rate. Our kids become part ofour family, but we still always know,"There's No Place Like Home".

By drawing upon the generosity of the theatre community,Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS raises funds for AIDSand family services across the country.

In appreciation for the theatre's community's unprecedentedcommitment to over 21 years of fundraising, BC/EFA is happyto support other cause-related services particularly dear tothose in our community who make our support for AIDS-related services possible.

Today BC/EFA proudly joins Bernadette Peters, Mary Tyler Moore andmany of Broadway's best at BROADWAY BARKS I I!

We are happy to welcome 26 animal shelter and rescue organizationsto Shubert Alley and thrilled that since the first BARKS in 1999 over600 previously abandoned but terrific dogs and cats have found forever, loving homes.

Richard's

But perhaps George Bernard Shaw said it best:

Scott's We are glad to help those in our community whose compassionateconcern for others includes many sweet, four-legged friends and theanimal-loving organizations gathered today in Shubert Alley.

So if you're thinking about adopting a dog or cat .... just do it. You'llhave a good pal for life.
