playgrounds in the Fleurieu Region for children
aged under 5 years.
We have endeavoured to provide this
pamphlet with up to date information. If you

This large playground area is located next to the Strathalbyn swimming pool in the Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens right in the heart of Strathalbyn. There are facilities including picnic tables and toilets close by. A short stroll across the bridge over the Angus River leads to even more picnic tables and barbeque facilities.

NORMANVILLE
This multi-purpose site, located on the main road between Yankalilla and Normanville, has something for everyone. There is good access for those using wheelchairs. The fully-fenced playground area has a diverse range of play equipment including swings, springy see-saw, spin-disc and a travelator with scoop. An access-for-all ramp leads to the large Aussie-themed activity zone which provides an opportunity for children to explore many activities. Supervision seating, a sheltered picnic table and a drinking fountain are all located within the fenced play area. Toilets and a sheltered barbeque area are also available at the site. The whole family will enjoy a visit to this park; the adults can give the outdoor gym equipment a go and youth can try out the skate ramps. There is also a BMX track and plenty of grassed space for free play. The Yankalilla Community Centre is based at this site. Definitely worth a visit!

MT COMPASS COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND Oval Road
Set in front of a scenic mountainous backdrop and located alongside the football oval, this fully-fenced community playground provides a variety of play equipment. Young children can explore movement through the use of swings, springy see-saw, monkey bars, slides, climbing poles and multi-level platforms connected by a timber foot bridge. Supervision seating and a picnic table are also available within the fenced area.

ARTHUR NEIGHBOUR RESERVE Porter Street
Centrally located in the heart of Goolwa, this playground has a variety of activities to offer children including climbing, crawling, sliding and swinging. The activity zone allows children to explore different heights with a sheltered platform area and a cosy gathering spot. The reserve has a large grassed area providing plenty of space for free play and is partially fenced along Wildman Street. Toilets are nearby and it is only a short walk to the town centre or a five minute walk to the historic Cockle Train station at The Wharf.

ABBOTTS RESERVE Ellensford Terrace
There is fun for the whole family at Abbotts Reserve with play equipment suitable for younger children, a basketball hoop and lots of free space to run around. A large sheltered picnic area with access to barbeques and plenty of natural shade makes this an ideal setting for a family gathering. Off-street parking is provided and tennis courts located at this site are available for hire. A small skate ramp can be found within a short walking distance towards the beach and the Encounter Bikeway is also nearby.

COMMODORE RESERVE Horseshoe Bay
This small playground is situated in a grassed reserve alongside the popular beach of Horseshoe Bay. Particularly suited to younger children, this site has a fun boat-themed activity zone as well as some swings. The generous sand-base area of the playground provides an opportunity for lots of digging and creative sand play activities. Several trees provide nice shaded spots to enjoy a family outing. Picnic tables are conveniently located nearby, with toilets and a café only a short walk away. There is much to explore around this area where natural coastal beauty abounds.

The playground at Starfish Park offers multiple opportunities for children of all ages to explore active outdoor play. A giant climbing frame, flying fox, swings, sandpit and an activity zone with slide, climbing walls, fireman pole and bridge are just some of the equipment available. Sheltered picnic areas and barbeques are on site, and a drinking fountain is also conveniently provided. Families can have a great time here enjoying the large grassed space with plenty of room to run around or play ball games.

Situated in a picturesque setting, this reserve has direct access to popular Encounter Lakes, with a generous sandy beach area for entertaining sand/water play. The playground offers children the opportunity to climb, swing, bounce, crawl and slide as they explore the equipment. A spacious grassed area around the playground provides some space for all ages to kick a ball around or play chasey. The site is partially-fenced along Tabernacle Road and several trees on the reserve offer some nice shaded picnic areas.

This large playground site is ideally situated alongside one of the safe swimming beaches in Victor Harbor and close to many popular tourist attractions, including the historic horse-drawn tram. Multiple sheltered barbeque and picnic tables are conveniently located in the park along the foreshore. Access to refreshments is only a short walk away if desired. The playground area is fully-fenced and there is supervision seating available. Toilets are situated next to the playground. The large Norfolk Pine trees provide welcome shade for the sand-based playground and also the large grassed open area of the park. Children will have opportunity for lots of active play with a broad range of play equipment available. Several themed activity zones featuring a train, ship and castle include motion-activated sound effects to add delight to the experience. The playground also features an access-for-all ramp to allow for wheelchair access.
