Part 2

Page 2: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Interphase/ Prophase I: Chromosomes duplicate

Page 3: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Metaphase I: Homologous chromosomes center on metaphase plate

Page 4: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Anaphase I: Chromosomes start to head to opposite poles but sister chromatids stay together

Page 5: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Continued from previous slide

• Telophase I/ Cytokinesis: Cells divide with haploid chromosomes (Chromosomes still have sister chromatids connected)

Page 6: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Prophase II: Chromosomes move towards middle of cells

Page 7: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Metaphase II: Chromosomes converge on metaphase plate of each individual cell with the sister chromatids still attached

Page 8: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Anaphase II: Sister Chromatids separate and head towards opposite poles of cell. This can cause differences between all the cells, depending on which way the daughter chromosomes move.

Page 9: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Anaphase II:Red cards separate with like chromosomes whereas white cards separate with differing chromosomes

Page 10: Playing Cards Part 2

Meiosis

• Telophase II and Cytokinesis: Cells separate and create four daughter cells that each have single chromosomes (haploid).
