INVOCATION (Divine Setting 1 with Pastor pg. 151-153)

P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen

P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

C: But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(Silence for self – examination)

P: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

C: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen

P: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His

All: Almighty and everlasting God, You sent Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, to take upon Himself our flesh and to suffer death upon the cross. The Coming King of Zion9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!    Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!Behold, your king is coming to you;    righteous and having salvation is he,humble and mounted on a donkey,    on a colt, the foal of a donkey.10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim    and the war horse from Jerusalem;and the battle bow shall be cut off,    and he shall speak peace to the nations;his rule shall be from sea to sea,    and from the River to the ends of the earth.11 As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you,    I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.12 Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope;    today I declare that I will restore to you double.

R: This is the Word of the Lord.C: Thanks be to God!

Reader: The Epistle Lesson is from Philippians, the 2nd Chapter.

Epistle: Philippians 2:5-11 English Standard Version (ESV)5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

THE GOSPEL LESSON R: The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the 12 chapter, The

Triumphal Entry.C: (sing) Glory to You, O Lord.

John 12:12-19 English Standard Version (ESV)12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;behold, your king is coming,    sitting on a donkey's colt!”16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. 17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.”R: This is the Gospel of the Lord.C: (Sing) Praise to you, O Christ.

The Apostle Creed – 1st Article:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? I believe that God has made m____ and all c_______; that He has given me my b______ and s_______, e_____, e_______, and all my m____________, my r__________ and all my s________, and still takes c_______ of them.

He also gives me c________ and s_______, f______ and d_______, h________and h________, w______ and c________, l_________ and a________, and all I have.

He r_______ and d______ p__________ me with all that I need to support this b______ and l______. He d__________ me against all d________ and g__________ and p__________ me from all evil.

Answers: What does this mean? I believe that God has made me and all creation: that He had given me my body and soul, eyes, ears and all my members, my reasons, and all my senses, and still takes care of them. He also gives me clothes and shoes, food and drinks, house and homes, parents and children, land, animals and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life. He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.
