12. EGG– female sex cell (has 1/2 the chromosome # or 23)
13. SPERM – male sex cell (has 1/2 the chromosome # or 23)
14. MITOSIS – cell division; makes two of the exact same cells (daughter cells)
15. MEIOSIS – cell division; makes sex cells (1/2 the chromosome #)

17. COMPETITION–one or more organism trying to use the same resources

26. LUNAR ECLIPSE - the moon passes into the Earth’s shadow (during full moon)
27. AXIS – what the Earth is rotating on. It is tilted at 23 ½ degrees
28. REVOLUTION– movement of the Earth around Sun (causes seasons)
29. ROTATION – spinning of Earth on axis (causes day and night)
30.ORBIT– path of the Earth around the Sun
31. ATMOSPHERE – layer of air around the Earth
32. HYDROSPHERE – layer of water on Earth
33. LITHOSPHERE – layer of solid rock on Earth
34. CLIMATE – average of weather conditions over time
35. WEATHER– day to day conditions of the atmosphere
36. EARTHQUAKE – shaking of the Earth’s crust
37. SEDIMENTARY– rocks - compacted and cemented sediments
38. IGNEOUS – rocks-melting and solidification of magma or lava
39. METAMORPHIC– rocks -other rocks changed by heat and pressure
40. WEATHERING– breakdown of rock
41. STATES OF MATTER – solid, liquid, gas, plasma. Based on molecule arrangement
42. ELEMENT– pure building blocks of all matter; made of atoms
43. COMPOUND – 2 or more elements chemically combined
44. MIXTURE– 2 or more things physically combined
45. PHYSICAL CHANGE – a change that does not change the composition
46. CHEMICAL CHANGE – a change that makes a new substance
47. DENSITY – how compact the molecules are; mass divided by volume
