It is nice to put a face with a voice. In that spirit, we’d like to introduce you to our residential CSR team. Meet our front line of communication—they field incoming calls for plumbing HVAC/ electrical service needs and also take fuel oil/propane delivery requests. In addition, they make outbound calls to schedule Gold Shield Inspection visits.

This group remains calm, cool, and collected even when weather conditions are the worst; delivering the best service in our industry.

Brittany LeValley has been here less than a year and has enjoyed getting to know our great customers. She lives in Dillsburg with her husband, son, and 4 “furbabies.” She enjoys spending time with her family and taking the kids on hikes and being outdoors.

Robin Kauffman, a 13-year veteran at HB McClure, truly enjoys helping clients to solve their problems and getting to know a lot of great customers over the years. Robin resides in Lewisberry with her hus-band and has two grown children and two grandchildren. She enjoys making blankets for Project Linus, knitting/crocheting, reading and spending time with her husband riding their Harley.

Kara Casher is in her 7th year at HB McClure and gets great satisfaction from helping our customers. She lives in Harrisburg with her husband and two boys. Besides running after two kids, she enjoys cooking, party planning, volunteering at her son’s school and spending time with family.

Good tax news is here just in time for spring! Congress passed a bill that includes an array of tax credits for renewable energy known as “tax extenders.” These tax breaks include a credit for homes with geothermal heating and cooling.

These incredibly efficient systems can cost tens of thousands of dollars initially to install, but with this recent credit homeowners should see a significant break

while lowering their carbon footprint. The tax credit is also retroactive for 2017 so those who qualified in 2017-2019 will receive a 30% tax credit. Homeowners

who had a geothermal heating and air conditioning system installed

at any point in 2017 qualify to receive tax credits for it.

This bill comes from nearly two years of lobbying from

various renewable energy trade organizations.

Clear out your garden space: remove any debris like leaves, twigs and leftover snow to make way for vegetables and flowers. Get rid of weeds from the root so they won’t grow back. If you have clay pots that you will be using for gardening, scrub any debris from these as well.

Get the soil ready for planting: After winter’s harsh weather, most soil is dried out. Use coffee grounds, leftover tea leaves and as well as organic material like manure and com-post to enrich the soil for healthy plants.

Prune trees and shrubs: remove any dead or damaged branches from woody plants. Some plants such as hydrangeas, butterfly bushes and most roses need a thin and trim since they are summer-blooming plants. You can wait to prune spring-blooming plants after flowering.

Create a composting area: You can throw some of the debris you’ll have from garden beds, such as small wood pieces, grass clippings, woody prunings, etc. in a composting bin. You can also put vegetable peelings and paper into the compost pile. Be sure to turn the pile each month to keep it aerated and you’ll be rewarded with rich compost!
