Dr.Diviya Singh, M.D.(Homoeo)Community Health Officer, ANSAS

Homoeopathy is a rapidly growing medical science. It has become a household name due the safety of itsmedication and gentleness of its cure. Among 300 and odd systems of medicine Homoeopathy is theSecond most popular system of medicine being practiced across the world& is accepted in more than 250countries today. It is more than a century and a half now that Homoeopathy has stepped into India. I t hasblended so well into the roots and traditions of the country that it has been recognized as one of t heNational System of Medicine and is playing a very important role in providing health care to a largenumber of people. A rough study states that about 10% of the Indian population is solely dependHomoeopathy for their Health care needs & 55% of population in metropolitan cities are turning towardsHomoeopathy. The word 'Homoeopathy' is derived from two Greek words, Homois meaning similar and pathos meaningsuffering. Homoeopathy simply means treating diseases with remedies prescribed in minute doses whichare capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when taken by healthy people. It is based on thenatural law of healing- "Similia Similibus Curantur" which means "likes be treated by likes". It was given ascientific basis by a German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). It has emerged as a time testedtherapybased on scientific principles that are natural and well proven.

Homoeopathy is a holistic & holistic science. It is holistic because it considers man as a whole, coveringthe body, mind and the soul as trinity of lifeirrespective of which part or system of the body is affected,.The holistic nature of homeopathy means every person is treated as a unique individual & differentia tedfrom other individuals during the treatment. Theseholistic & holistic approaches towards the sick individuallead to promotion of inner optimum balance not only at and physical level but also at mental, emotional, spiritual levels.Taking all these factors into account a Homeopath will select the most appropriate medicinebased on the individual's specific symptoms and personal nature to stimulate one's own healing power, enhancing the body's natural healing system. The uniqueness of Homoeopathy is unlike other systems of medicine it does not treat the diseaseatsuperficial level by giving symptomatic relief but goes deeper to understand the root cause & remove thedisease from its base. Therefore, a permanent result can be obtained in all long standing chronic di seases, from a simple cold to cancers. Homeopathic medicines are harmless & safe to use inall age group from an infant to old aged people, including pregnant or breast feeding women as they do not contain crude form of medicinal substances .The medicines are dissolved in globules and given to patients in sweet pills; therefore, they are readilyaccepted by children including infants. The medicines are cost effective, therefore can be given generously to a large mass in any outbreak ofsporadic, epidemic diseases & other communicable disorders. When used judiciously under the guidance of a qualified homeopath, they can bring about rapid &gentle cures in any type of disorders. Homoeopathy is Today's medicine, an ultimate answer to all named& un-named diseases. So on the occasion of World Homoeopathic Day 2021, I wish everyone a healthy and a blissful life.
