PMGSY – Salient FeaturesPMGSY – Salient Features

Objective: The Programme envisages connecting all eligible unconnected habitations with a population of 500 persons (census 2001) and above in the plain areas

250 persons (Census 2001) and above in Hill States, Tribal (Schedule V) areas, the Desert areas (as identified in the Desert Development Programme) and 78 Selected Backward and Tribal Districts as identified by the Ministry of Home Affairs/Planning Commission.

Up gradation of eligible routes,though it is not central to the programme.

pavements for low volume roads published in 2007.

– Quality Assurance Handbooks published in 2007.

– Gravel Road Manual published in 2008.

– Standards for Steel Bridges published in 2009.

– Manual on Procurement & Contract Management.

• Transparent bidding through Standard Bidding Document developed for PMGSY.
