What is a Podcasting?*Podcast is derived from iPod and
broadcast. Although you don’t need an iPod to listen to podcasts. All you need are media players on computers or mp3 compatible players.
*Podcasts are a collection of media files (usually audio mp3) that are published to the web, and then syndicated letting users subscribe (sign up) to and download them automatically.

video podcasts• Many websites have links to
podcasts subscriptions available– School Library Journal – Early childhood podcasts available
from Sesame Street– YALSA – young adult library association– Public libraries have podcasts of
programs
Podcast Terminology
• A Podcast can be downloaded and delivered online via RSS feed (webfeed) subscriptions.
• Podcatchers are special RSS aggregators with the ability to transfer the files to media player software or hardware. iTunes or Juice programs are aggregators or podcatchers.
