Foreword This compilation of poetry an literary pieces is an activity common to all the par-

ticipants in the Comenius partnership “Humans for Nature, Nature for Humans”.

The goal of this activity was to get the students engaged in the project by taking ad-

vantage of their creativity and the appeal of poetry.

Though it was first intended as a compilation of poems, some other kinds of works

have been included, to allow for more freedom and to give more opportunities to

our younger and weaker students.

All the pieces have a central concern: nature and environmental care.

The countryside is beautiful, but I set up a shout because it is dirty, full of rubbish. We must clean it

and care for it.

I keep in my mind that everybody must care for environment because otherwise Earth will completely die. That’s why I’ll save wáter.

In the middle of the meadow there is a school where the flowers and the bees go poppies and lilies small violets blue bell flowers that sound with the wind. In the middle of the meadow there is a school and a daisy that is the teacher.

I go out home to go to the Woods with few clothes and I cross a bridge where quiet wáter flows and I greet people. I’m happy in the open air I enjoy nature, I suddenly see a hare that rushes into the undergrowth. At dusk, the sky turns in red colours and then I behold its beauty

The dew is love, the rose is joy, and the river life. If you pollute wáter you won’t drink, if you ruin the planet you won’t forgive yourself, and if you don’t care it, it will die.

The environment is dying and we are destroying it. With sprays and batteries the environment will go at once. Nature is very beautilful and if we don’t care it, it will finish at once. We have to become aware so little by little we go on recovering it.

Marcos Martínez

In a little village there were people that didn’t respect the environment and threw used batteries into the river. The children were very sad, because they saw how fish disappeared and they de-cide to do something. All together, they cleaned the river and went all over the houses of the village gathering used batteries to take them to a bin, and they explained all the inhabi-tants what they were doing. They all promised to help them and they didn’t throw anything into the river any-more. Soon after that, the river was full of fish again.

I’M AFRAID I’m afraid that someday when it has to rain it doesn’t or it wouldn’t stop pouring. Wearting coats in spring, or swimmers in autumn , or that the weather is so crazy that we don’t know what to do. LET’S DO SOMETHIG! Because I’m afraid that someday when it has to rain it doesn’t or it wouldn’t stop pouring.

GLASSES ARE NOT THE SAME One is fatter, other is thinner. One is harder, other is softer. One is more beautiful, other is uglier. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT WE RECYCLE THEM ALL!!

THE LITTLE RAIN DROPS Once upon a time, there was a bunch of little rain drops that lived in a cloud.

One day, they gathered together and said: “What a boring life we live!

We want to do something marvellous. We’ll go down to Earth to get full of colours, just like nature

At that moment, the cloud threw the drops in the air.

Page 16: Poetry

But before they reach the ground, the sun came and went through them with its rays.

At that moment, something marvellous happe-ned...

They began to see how the light went out they tum-mies dyed in beautiful colours.

Thus, all together, they formed in the sky...

The gorgeous seven-colour bow: THE RAINBOW

This is an adaptation of Eunice Braido’s short story “As gotinhas e o arco-iris”. Students have learnt and performed it. Then, they illus-trated the story. The aim was to introduce them in the concept of the water cycle in an amusing way.

A PRECIOUS PLACE A Precious Place

A flower opens on a precious place. Giving back the future for the human race. Only a few of these places remains. Giving to the restless nightmares. Memories of colors, animals and the bright sky, Turned grey, dull and fearsomely dry.

These precious places are guarded well Giving no chances to losing them. For the people meansa lot, means to live. While today it's only a tree.

THE TREES OF THE GARDEN

There's a school on the field Where there are flowers and bees Europa is this But I won't tell you about it. I'll tell you about the economy friendly life That you should escape from smog & junk. That 2000 species already died To change the car to a bike In spite of every dust and waste You don't have much time so don't waste Step on the way of the "green ones" Because nobody care about what they got. Because now there are needed more then God. It's more than a story. Than flowing honey.

It's a simple gift from reality And you won't go to custody If you do it with clear mind. And don't waste much Money Use less water and wind What do you think?! That mother nature won't remember? That she'll end this disgusting member But, to save the World here are some advice. Collect rubbish, save the environment Take care of the garden Plant trees because it's a good thing to do. Find your religion in recycling And please give your word for me. Save your nation and the world!

POEM OF SPRING

POEM OF SPRING It was summer but it is autumn now, Pocket’s full of chestnuts. Leaves are falling the nature is asleep, I am dreaming of a better world. Before the new world whiteness comes, The coldest friend of us. Spring is coming my happiness. Brings the colours and takes away the greyness.

THERE IS A GREAT TEAM…

THE BEST FOUR

There is a great team! It is real! No, it isn't a dream! Earth, Water, Fire, Air, it’s them. Come on! Union is our strength. With the Earth, it is all right, because Earth gives us life and light. No Water? Nothing lives with-out fight. Water is clean, clear and nice. Water washes over my hand. Water slips away like sand.

Moira Candeloro

Bright fire! Flaming, burning and hot fire! Air carries smells and colours. Air is fresh. Air is the oxygen of our life. Pollute the world is wrong because... the world is old but it's gold! We are the world. The future is in our hands. Short reckonings make long friends! Remember : you are a part of the world too!

LET’S HELP THE EARTH

Can we delate the pollution? Yes, we can make the recycling! Help me to help the Earth Then open your heart! Can we save the future generation? Yes, we can make a green revolution! Help me to help the Earth Then open your heart!

AGAINST POLLUTION. POLLUTION DOESN’T MAKE

FREE

Many industries pollute the air and this is a bad affair. Particulate nitrogen and carbon are harmful to the population. There are also cars with their gas and discharge from the diesel bus. The air is not much clean and people eat vegetables lean. Again we want a blue sky let’s come together… and try.

I see the grey sky

Please stop, I can’t breathe anymore!

My eyes are blind my throat is burn-ing.

Not aware of what he will dis-cover, Steve got up , and went to the kitchen. When he looked through the window he saw a dra-matic image. His hometown was completely ruined and deserted. He walked through the city , looking for some signs of life. In the middle of the city he found a little box. He opened the box carefully with hesita-tion. The box included seeds and a note. It said: “ Hello Steve. You’ve never cared about nature. What

you see is the result of your decisions. It’s time to test you. The little box has got a tree and flowers seeds. You must find a place on the Earth , where na-ture hasn’t died yet. Good luck Steve…” The poor boy couldn’t be-lieve in what he has just read. Af-

ter a while he understood that it was his only way to survive. He prepared him-self to a journey and set off. Steve was walking long hours and even days. After some time he felt exhausted and fell down to the ground.

REMEMBER, STEVE

Page 36: Poetry

He heard voice in his head. “That’s punishment for your indifference to nature pollution and urbanization”. Steve was almost crying. When he felt that these were his last hours of existence in this world he felt pain in his chest and… woke up. Everything was fine. His parents were in the kitchen. The town was full of people and life. “That was only a nightmare…”He came back to the room to make up his bed, and found a sheet of paper on the bedside table. The note said “Remember Steve…”

There was a time when the Earth was cove-red with stones and nothing lived there. The-re were no animals, plants or trees, only people, who were unhealthy and always ti-red. In a poor house there lived a girl with her fa-mily. One day her stepmother made Marysia pick berries. Unfortunately, it was winter and it was impossible to find any fruit. Step-mother wanted Marysia to get lost. The girl wandered in the dark forest looking for berries for a long time. Suddenly, she saw a small hut. She was freezing and she decided to come in. However, she fainted. She woke up in a warm bed. At first she was scared of magical creatures, which were in front of her. She had never seen such strange aliens, but she claimed that

they looked friendly. How are you ? – asked one of them. Oh , thanks. I’m really ok – she responded. They gave her food and some warm tea. When she felt better, in exchange for their politeness, she decided to do the washing and do the cleaning in the house. The creatures were very thankful. They claimed that her heart was in the right place. They took a deci-sion and gave her powers which no one had in

the world. Every creature gave her something. She got green power. She could create green plants, trees and fresh air. The second power, which she got, was animal power. She could give people beautiful new creatures – animals. She could give the Earth eve-rything that was beautiful, everything that hadn’t be-

en there before. Suddenly, the sky become blue. The planet was full of life, everywhere was green and ni-ce. People felt better and much healthier. That was what Nature – Marysia gave to world. Unfortunately, her sister Evilly was envious that she was the queen of nature. She decided to go to the forest and find the same powers as Marysia had. When she came into the hut she made bad impression on the creatures. Evilly complained on food, which creatures treated her with and their living conditions. She didn’t want to clean the hut and she was moody. They thought that she was evil and they made a decision to punish her for her behaviour. Wherever she appeared there was a lot of pollution. She gained the power to destroy nature. Hopefully, Marysia had big-ger power than Evilly and could always defeat her evil sister, who still wanted to fight, but was too weak.

Far far away, there was a small village where a little, charming girl lived. Her name was Amanda. Amanda liked picking up the flo-wers. When she saw some beautiful flowers, she couldn't stand not getting them. One day the girl decided to go for a walk. While she was walking down the path she went to the "Magical Forest" where soon she noticed somet-hing unusual. It was a be-autiful, green meadow with variety of flowers. There was also a board with the words "DO NOT PICK THE FLO-WERS". However, she looked around and risked to break the rule. Amanda didn't expect what was going to happen. As soon as she picked up the flo-wers there big earthquake

and thunders occured. All plants were dying because of dry earth. From nowhere, rubbish started to appear. The girl was so scared. After she got over, she noticed something more on the board. The smallest words which weren't visible at first glance said that: " If you can't live in peace with one of the smallest part of nature you

don't deserve to live in the clean environment." Amanda was rea-lly worried. The thunders which were destroying trees were louder and closer. She started to cry in terror. When her first tear fell on the dry ground suddenly a fairy ap-peared. The fairy was holding a magical wand. Amanda couldn't believe what she saw. She asked the fairy: " What are you doing here? " The fairy answered : " I'm here for you, to make your dreams come

true! I heard your fallen tear so I decided to appear. Now make up your mind and tell your wish fast, or you would never come back to the past!". The girl wanted only one thing - to make the environment clean again and that was exactly what she said to the fai-ry. Her wish came true. Amanda was again in a village, where the sun was shining, grass was green and there were no rubbish. The fairy had to go back to the "Magical Forest". For goodbye she gave Amanda some advice : "Take care of our nature, Watch out for every rule, Don't let your hope die, Even when you think it's ridiculous". THE END.

Kirletmeyelim doğayı, sevelim ormanları Her zaman bizim içindir orman ağaçları Kırmayalım dallarını, koruyalım onları Hep birlikte kollayalım bu güzelim doğayı. Doğa bizim kaynağımız Hem anamız hem babamız Ağaçlar olmadan biz yaşayamayız Doğayı ve ağaçları her an korumalıyız

Let’s love the forest, not pollute them They-the trees of forest are always for us Let’s not break their branches, let’s keep them Let’s keep this beautiful nature. Nature is our source It’s both our mother and father We can’t live without trees We must always keep the nature and forest .

Zeytin ağaçları İncir yaprakları Ne güzeldir Yurdumun toprakları

Olive trees Fig leaves What a beautiful land My country is.

BEN BIR ÇEVREYIM!

Ben bir çevreyim, Pislik değil. Beni çevre yapan, Temiz hava, orman. Çevreyi kirleten sizsiniz, Bunu önleyebilirsiniz, Atmazsanız yere çöp, Kirletmezsiniz çevreyi.

I am an environment, Not a dirt. The things that make me environment are Fresh air and forest. You are the men who pollute the environment But you can prevent this If you don’t throw the rubbish to the floor You keep environment clean.
