Main Purpose

In this work we present the results of the Monte Carlo Simulations of polarization effects in the transiting planetary systems HD 189733, TrES-3 and Wasp-4 using the method proposed by Carciofi & Magalhães (2005). It suggests that the stellar radiation coming from different parts of the disk is polarized to various extent with maximum observed on the limb. Obviously, the total radiation from a single star is unpolarized due to the spherical symmetry, while the transiting planet breaks this symmetry of the stellar disk and the additional polarization effects appear in the system. This method could be very good for detection and/or confirmation of extrasolar planets.

ResultsWe studied the occultation polarization that

ensues from the transit of an extra-solar planet in front of different spectral type stars and conclude that:

Polarization degree increase up to ~0.022% at the limb of HD189733, ~0.03% at the limb of TrES-3 and ~0.012% at the limb of Wasp-24;

Polarization degree increasing depends on ratio Rpl/Rstar. The more mean Rpl/Rstar, the more mean of polarization degree;

We are going to make a polarimetric observation of Late type star with transiting large extrasolar planets or brown dwarf in close future.

And main result is that this method could be an independent method to detect and/or to confirm the existence of planet near the star.
