Polymers and tackifiers for hot melt adhesives in nonwovens

ExxonMobil Chemical is a global supplier of a broad portfolio of polymers and tackifiers to the adhesive industry. The Escorez™ 5000 family of premium tackifiers is compatible with a wide range of polymers for use in nonwoven applications. Adhesives based on these light-color Escorez tackifiers are used to combine the nonwoven fabrics, plastic films, and elastic substrates commonly found in the construction of disposable nonwoven goods.

Escorez 5000 family of tackifiers is the standard of the industry in disposable adhesive applications.Adhesives used in the manufacture of disposable nonwoven products fall into four main categories:

Construction adhesive

• Laminates nonwoven fabric to film.• Stabilizes the absorbent core to prevent it from shifting during use.

Elastic attachment adhesive

• Bonds the elasticized components of the leg gathers, standing leg cuffs and waist band which helps prevent leakage in diapers.

Positioning adhesive

• Keeps products such as feminine pads in place during use.

Tape attachment adhesive

• Maintains critical article closures.• Permits multiple repositioning and/or closure of the product.

All of these applications require tailored adhesive formulations that not only meet their performance needs, but are also light in color, low in odor and stable during the manufacturing process, shipment, storage and product use.

Escorez™ tackifiers – 5000 familyEscorez 5300 series: tackifier of choice for disposable adhesive formulations requiring a high level of stability and water white color.

Escorez 5400 series: light color economic alternative to water white 5300 series.

Escorez 5600 series: light color resin modified with aromatics to broaden compatibility range and provide possibility for tuning into both SIS and SBS-based formulations.
