VISION STATEMENT
Pompallier Catholic College is a Catholic community with a Marist charism that challenges all students to excel in their endeavours. We promote Christian values, excellence in learning and quality relationships to enable students to be outstanding citizens. Our College shall be a place where

FOR ALL THE SAINTS
Though I never told you I saw you sewing shirts for us at Christmas, and learned that being a parent meant trying to give much when you often have so little.
Though I never told you I saw you praying each evening, often alone, with tears in your eyes, and I learned that God does not always take away our pain.
Though I never told you I saw you baking for my birthday when we were meant to be asleep, and I learned that love makes demands on us even when we are tired.
Though I never told you I saw you watch me play rugby at school, the coach said it was the best I ever played, and I learned how a father’s presence can help a child excel.
Though I never told you I saw how you made us breakfast at the beach, and I learned that nothing tasted so nice as fresh fish in the morning cooked by my Dad.
Though I never told you I saw you drive for hours after work to bring us home from boarding school, and I learned that sometimes you just need to do the hard yards in life.
Though I never told you I did not know my close friends were Māori until I was schooled in Auckland, and I learned that some people are judged by the colour of their skin.
Though I never told you I saw how you wrote to us every weekend with snippets of news from the home town paper, and I learned the importance of being connected to the earth of your birth.
Though I never told you I saw how you held your first grandson close and how you wept inside as we left knowing that you had only months to live, and I Iearned to say “ I love you” every time I say goodbye to my sons.
Though I never told you I saw how proud you were to walk with me when I started my new job even though you had great back pain, and I learned that being there is sometimes enough.
Though I never told you I saw how you took pride in your work and always paid your debts on time. I learned that being trustworthy and responsible helped to make the world a better place.
Though I never told you I saw how you wrote letters and spoke strongly about unjust situations, and I learned how important it was to take a principled stand in life.
Though I never told you I saw how you cooked food for a neighbour’s family and spent time with them. So I learned the importance of being generous with our goods as well as with our time.
Though I never told you I loved the warmth of your touch
as you tucked me in bed each night, and I learned the importance of holding those whom we love.
Though I could not tell you for a stroke had left you unaware, you had taught me that saints were not just in heaven, sometimes they are very near.

LEAVING SCHOOL THIS YEAR?
If you are leaving the College this year, there are a few things you need to do before you go:
Return all library books and subject textbooks, otherwise you will be charged for them
Complete a LEAVERS FORM, available from the Student Centre (Year 13 students should have already received one from your whanau teacher)
Return your completed Leaver’s Form to the Student Centre BEFORE the end of term.

SENIOR LOCKERS Be in quick – limited lockers available!!
If you wish to reserve a locker for 2017, or keep your current locker, you will need to fill in an online order form at: www.stowawaylockers.co.nz as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can call or text Robyn on 437 5818 or 0274 221 783.
If you no longer require your locker for 2017, please let us know by email: [email protected]. You will need to return your key at the end of the term, sellotaped to a piece of paper with your details on for your bond refund. Ensure the locker is left empty, as any remaining items will be disposed of at the end of the year.
Keys will need to be received within one week of Term 4 ending, and can be posted to: Stowaway Lockers, 220 Ngunguru Road, RD 3, Whangarei 0173. Refunds will be posted or direct credited to your bank account in January 2017.

OVERDUE LIBRARY & SUBJECT BOOKS
There are a number of overdue library books, and subject textbooks outstanding.
Students - if you have received an overdue library book notice and/or been issued a subject textbook during the year and have not yet returned them, please do so before the end of this term, to avoid being charged for the cost of the book. Thank you.

We had a great day for the event and three Year 7 boys broke old records:

Mrs Yorke has now collated our results in comparison with our Zone schools, Huanui and Tikipunga.
The Top 3 track times and top 2 field events distances are chosen to attend the WPSSA Championships at Trigg Stadium, Kensington.
On Thursday a meeting was held for all the students who qualified and a permission slip to ask for parental assistance was sent home. The slip should also be emailed home as a quick turn-around time is needed before entries are due ☺

ASB PLAYER OF THE DAY & FAIR PLAY LUCKY DRAW WINNERS

We had 5 finalists this year: Ciara Smith and Annabell Simpson (Swimming), Anya Gross (Football), Hanna Turner (Official – Netball) and Raven Kinita (Olympic Weight-lifting).
Hanna Turner was our successful winner on the night.
We all had a picture with Paralympic athlete (and ex-student) Cameron Leslie – and his medal, and another ex-student Melita Raravula. Melita was invited back to the awards as a past Sports woman of the Year in 2012.
WHANGAREI AMATEUR SWIM CLUB
Learn to swim - with Whangarei Amateur Swim Club. 13 weeks, 35 minute lessons. For children from 5 years old.

SHERWOOD GOLF CLUB
Every Sunday at Sherwood Park Golf Club Driving Range @ 10.00am.
We have two Professional Coaches – Rick Parker and Quentin Diment, and the support of Sherwood Parks Senior Members.
Cost - $0 – There is no charge for Sunday morning driving range coaching.
No equipment is required to start – we provide it all.
Membership: Please Note - You DO NOT have to be a member of the club to attend Sunday coaching. Membership is available – please see one of the coaches on a Sunday for more information.

SPORTS… continued from page 3 ATTENDANCE DUES SPONSORSHIP
The Attendance Dues Sponsorship Scheme has been created to assist families who may need financial support with the payment of Attendance Dues, for students attending Catholic schools in Auckland Diocese, both primary and secondary.
The purpose of the sponsorship scheme is to allow parents or caregivers facing financial hardship another option to seek relief where they may be reluctant to approach their school for help.
The existing financial hardship scheme (operated by your school) is also available to parents or caregivers facing hardship and we do encourage families facing financial difficulties to please contact your school office.
Application forms are available from school and parish offices, or can be downloaded from the Catholic Schools Office website: www.catholicschools.org.nz (go to Property and Finance / Finance / Attendance Dues).
If you have any queries or require assistance with the payment of Attendance Dues under the sponsorship scheme, you are invited to phone in confidence, Carol Krebs (Ph. 09 360 3069) at the Auckland Diocese office.
Applications to the sponsorship scheme for 2016 Attendance Dues will be accepted by the Auckland Common Fund Ltd up to November 2016.
YEAR 9 & 10 EXAM TIMETABLE
PLEASE NOTE:-
All exams take place during period 1 and 2: 8.55am - 10.55am. Students are to enter the exam at 8.40am.
No talking from the time you enter the room.
No ipods, phones etc. allowed in the exams.
You may take in a water bottle. No food, gum etc. allowed.
Take in equipment required, plus reading material. There will be no sharing of equipment allowed.
Students are not allowed to leave the exam early.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Sciadopitys Garden Centre for supporting our Senior Prize Giving, by once again loaning us the plants that surrounded our stage.
Also, a big thank you to Engraving Systems for their on-going support and patience during our Prize Giving preparations.
Thank you to the many who attended our Senior Prize Giving on Wednesday night. It was a wonderful evening, with many opportunities to celebrate the successes of our students.
