INTRODUCING PON POWERPon Power is the distributor of Cat and MaK engines and generator sets in Scandinavia and the Baltic States. We supply sales and service of Cat© in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Faeroes and Greenland, as well as sales and service of MaK in Norway, Denmark, the Faeroes, Greenland, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and in the Baltic States.

Pon Power’s large client base can be found in the marine, industrial and petroleum sectors, as well as within electric power (generator sets). We offer complete systems throughout the product spectrum, ranging from 6.4 to 16,000 kW, which are mainly used as propulsion and auxiliary engines, primary power or emergency power. In addition, we can offer engines for fi re-fi ghting pumps and cranes for offshore installations.

Pon Power is renowned for its effi cient 24-hour service and rapid delivery of spare parts, wherever they are needed. Taken in conjunction with Caterpillar’s global service network, and our recommended maintenance and operations programme, we guarantee exceptional operational reliability and lowest possible cost of ownership.

Pon Power has undergone many changes during recent years resulting in the fact that the company now employs approx.300 employees and has customer relations all over the world. This large organisation means that the company’s actions are refl ected in many fi elds and impact our surroundings to a great extent. Therefore we take the environmental considerations seriously.

We have realised that we work in an industry which strongly infl uences the environment. This emphasizes the necessity of companies in this fi eld preparing an action plan to keep the environmental impact to an absolute minimum. Since 2003 Pon Power in Norway has been certifi ed according to ISO14001 to ensure that we take as good care of our environment as possi-ble and that this is done systematically and consistently. In 2006 the company instituted a cooperation with the environmental NGO, the Bellona foundation, to learn more about how to further improve our processes, and to signal to our surroundings that we take the issue seriously and take action where we can.

As a dealer of Caterpillar products we are closer to the users than the manufacturer. One of our most important jobs is to pass on information and requests from our customers and surround-ings to the manufacturer so that the manufacturer can adjust the products to the market. Therefore work is constantly done on reducing emissions and to ensure that our products are at the forefront of developments. Caterpillar manufactures one of the world’s broadest ranges of marine engines, and as the largest marine dealer in the Caterpillar worldwide network Pon Power has played an impor-tant role over the last decade as a supplier of propulsion and auxiliary engines to the maritime cluster. As a dealer of the Cat and MaK brands we can offer virtually the whole performance range in propulsion engines and generator sets with products ranging from 6.4 to 16,000 kW, all tailored to our customers’ individual needs.

Pon Power supplies both individual products and package solutions, as well as upgrades of existing products. Together with Caterpillar’s development of new and improved engines, Pon Power will continue to focus on constantly improving our designs to secure the best possible products for our customers.

Pon Power has supplied a signifi cant number of locally custom-built generator sets for diesel electric propulsion systems. This has proven to be a versatile and fl exible propulsion system particularly suitable onboard platform supply vessels as well as anchor handlers and other multipurpose vessels. The diesel electric propulsion designs are becoming well-established in the market with several years of experience and a large number of engines in operation.

Caterpillar’s industrial engines are found in sizes from 15 - 4,900 kW. On construction sites and mining operations, in agriculture and forestry, and in a wide range of industries, the Cat engine line-up delivers the power, performance and proven reliability to take on any challenge. A total of 2,500 OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) throughout the world incorporate various Cat engines or products in their series of manufactured equipment.

Caterpillar has long been a driving force in the development of industrial engine technology, and the steadily improved components in the engines have reduced exhaust emissions, at the same time as the power of the engines has increased.

Pon Power Oil & Gas is a single source supplier for all power applications to the oil & gas market. The group offers solutions within the range of 8 - 16,000 kW and always offers you tailor-made total solutions, whether it’s for pumping, compression, power generation or some other form of auxiliary, main or emergency power, and exactly to your specifi cations.

All power modules are designed to meet the stated requirements for ambient conditions, emissions, area classifi cations, and the specifi cations of marine classifi cation societies. The Pon Power Oil & Gas group has branches in the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark for sales, services and 24/7 technical support.

Pon Power can offer full service and lifetime agreements for preventive and corrective maintenance that meet the specifi cations of the customer’s individual requirements.

Caterpillar is a world leader in construction and production of systems for generation of electrical power and heat. This enables Pon Power to offer our customers a broad range of high-quality products and solutions. Cat generator sets are used in situations where permanent and reliable power supply or emergency power is needed. Our diesel and gas generator sets are used within road construction, at construction sites, fi sh farms, nursery gardens, offi ce buildings, shopping centres and hospitals. With an increasing dependence on energy and data our products are also used by telecom operators, energy suppliers and for operation of web hosting and IT centres. Furthermore, we protect vital industrial processes. New areas of great interest where backup power is needed is for instance windmills and on ships with special equipment with need for more power.

You only need one supplier for the entire unit, and we can deliver the optimal individual solution. In addition, we keep a number of diesel generator sets in stock to be able to fulfi l the need for early delivery.

Pon Power offers complete and operational diesel generator sets covering the power range from 7 to 16,000 kW. Our diesel generator sets can be delivered as basis models and furthermore customized units to meet the requirements and needs of your company. Pon Power also delivers complete emergency power solutions.

Pon Power delivers modules that provide both electrical power and heating effect within the power range 500 - 6,500 kW. Pon Power has delivered more than 120 combined heat and power units to the Danish market over the past 15 years.

We work to ensure that our customers will fi rst and foremost purchase reliable operation and power supply.

MAINTENANCEOF YOUR ENGINE

Pon Power is renowned for its effi cient 24-hour service. Taken in conjunction with Caterpillar’s global service network, and our recommended maintenance and operations programme, we guarantee exceptional operational reliability.

Our current workforce includes a number of service technicians who have specialised in MaK and Cat engines. We also have a number of authorised sub-dealers with service technicians located in your vicinity.

In collaboration with the customer, Pon Power offers scheduled maintenance to ensure reliable operation of your engines. The agreements range from preventive maintenance at agreed intervals, based on the engine’s operating hours, regular inspection of vital systems and components, to turnkey agree-ments for maintenance and repair, in which everything is covered by a fi xed price.

All agreements are customised to meet any specifi c application and requirement. The main purpose of a service agreement is to free up your time from maintenance work and repair and optimize security so that you can concentrate on your core business.

An important contribution to the strenght of Cat engines is that every individual component is designed and manufactured to achieve the greatest possible durability and best possible availability of service.

Pon Power is aware of the costs involved in long lead times for spare parts for our customers so we are proud to be able to offer 98% availability for around 250,000 different spare parts within 24 hours. Pon Power also offer 24-hour online booking through our PartStore, and our links with Caterpillar provide us with constant online information about our stocks and delivery times. More than 300 tonnes of spare parts consignments leave Grimbergen for Cat dealers throughout Europe every day.

Pon Power also offers a broad range of REMAN parts. These are reliable low-cost solutions, with quality as for new parts, which can be used whether individual parts are to be replaced or more complicated repairs made.

An SOS analysis is an important fi rst step giving you the quickest, most exact and most reliable picture of what is happening within your engine. The analysis provides the opportu-nity to test all of the fl uids, including the engine oil, transmission and drive line oils, hydraulics oils and coolant. The SOS analysis has been constructed to identify problems at an early stage before they lead to reduced performance, major repairs or in the worst case unforeseen interruption to operations or catastrophic failure.

Regular oil analysis is a good and reasonable insurance against expensive repairs and interrupted operations. Spending a couple of minutes on an oil sample - that you send to us for an analysis in our laboratory - can save you huge amounts on your mainte-nance. Discovering potential problems early is the very key to reduce downtime and maintain productivity.

Pon Power in Norway was founded in 1902 known as Pay & Brinck. The company became the main dealer of Cat products in Norway as early as 1926. In 1987, the engine division of Pay & Brinck was demerged into an independent company, Pay & Brinck Motor AS. Following Caterpillar’s acquisition of the German company, MaK GmbH & Co, the company began as agents for MaK products in January 2000. With over a century of experience and more than 4,000 engines delivered, the company today occupies a unique position in the Norwegian market. Pay & Brinck Motor AS was acquired by Pon Holdings in 2004, changing its name to Pon Power.

Pon Power in Denmark was known as Enmaco Motorer A/S for decades. For many years, the fi shing industry was its dominat-ing customer, but operations have now expanded to shipping and industry. When Caterpillar bought out the German company MaK GmbH & Co. in 1999, this also gave Enmaco Motorer the MaK representation. Enmaco Motorer was acquired by Pon Holdings BV in October 2004. Since then, the company has traded under the name of Pon Power.

January 1, 2006, Pon Power A/S in Denmark and Pon Power AS in Norway merged their activities into one larger and more powerful unit. The purpose of the merger was to strengthen the company by exploiting its resources even more to benefi t its customers.

Pon Power in Sweden started as a division of Engson Maskin AB. In 1994, the engine division demerged into an independent company, Geveke Power Systems Svenska, and became the Cat dealer for the marine, industrial and EPG segments. Geveke Power Systems was acquired by Pon Holdings in 2004, changing its name to Pon Power. In 2007 the marine responsibility became a part of the Scandinavian Pon Power organization.

Pon Power in the Baltic States was established in 2006 in order for Pon Power to be in closer proximity of the MaK owners and operators in the Baltics.

Pon Power is part of the multinational commercial organisation, Pon Holdings, a family-owned Dutch group that began its business as a trading house in 1895. In 1947, it became the Dutch importer of Volkswagen, and later added Audi and Porsche. In 1980, Pon entered new markets, offering forklift trucks, hydraulic systems and engines for maritime purposes. Later it acquired the Bolier Group, which had licences to sell MaK engines throughout much of Europe.

Today, Pon Holdings consists of around 500 companies in 10 countries, with a total workforce of around 9,000 employees.

Pon Power in ScandinaviaCaterpillar started its business in the US in the 1920s, and in 1925 the Caterpillar Tractor Company was registered as a company. The fi rst company-manufactured diesel engines for mobile applications were launched in 1931. The fi rst diesel engines from Caterpillar, developed for marine use, were launched in 1937, and two years later followed the fi rst complete generator units. After the war, in 1947, Caterpillar’s fi rst natural gas engine was developed and 1955 saw the appearance of Caterpillar’s fi rst turbocharged diesel engine.

Today, Caterpillar Inc. has delivered cutting-edge products of outstanding reliability for more than 85 years and has become a global leader with its nearly 300 operations in 40 countries. This solidifi es Caterpillar’s position as a global supplier achieving its competitive edge by leveraging industry-wide technological advancements, providing customers with innovative products, services and solutions.

MaK (Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft Kiel) was established in Kiel in 1948, starting with hot bulb engines, then two-stroke engines. Serial production of four-stroke diesel engines began in 1930, and following an unstable period with changes of ownership, production of more modern types of engines began in 1962. In 1992, MaK launched a new generation of long-stroke engines with great success, both as an auxiliary engine and main engine. They followed up the success with other excellent engines, strengthening their reputation as a manufac-turer of quality engines.

In 1997, the manufacturer of MaK engines became a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar and formed Caterpillar’s techno-logical centre for large, medium-speed engines.Today, Caterpillar Marine Power Systems brings together all sales and service activities for Cat and MaK branded marine products within Caterpillar Inc.
