Rules and regulations

• Participants or those who are interested in taking part in all the activities planned, has to take note the rules and regulations set by person in charge.

Kolam contestPerson in charge – Rubini

Contest info :• 7 teams• 4 ppl per team• Rice and colouring provided ( red, yellow, blue)• Theme : ponggal• Fee : RM 5

KOLAM CONTEST RULES Contestants should be in a group which

consists of maximum 4 persons only. Contestants should wear cultural costume

only. 1 hour is given for participants to complete

their kolam. No additional time will be given. Contestants must be able to explain the

meaning of their kolam and how the meaning is related to ponggal.

The size of the kolam is standardized, follows the size of a mahjong paper.

Flower tying competition

FLOWER TYING COMPETITION RULES

This competition is opened to all UMP students who could be male or female. Participants must be enrolling earlier before the end of the enrollment date fixed. All participants will be given same amount of flowers and string which are fixed. Extra

string will NOT be provided. They have to tie the flowers according to the time given (5 minutes). Participants are only allowed to tie one flower which is facing upward and downward

respectively in one knot. Tying more than two flowers in one knot will be considered as cheating.

More marks will be given to the compact tying. The talent of participants arranging the different kind of flowers with creativity will also

be concerned. Participants will be judged according to their speed/completion of their tying, creative

and tidiness. Participants will only recognized as winner if they follow or obey the rules and

regulations fixed.

Things need for each participants: String (2meter) Jasmine (1 cup full) Chrysanthemum (8) Rose (4)

Thoranam competition

Contest info • 7 teams• 2 ppl per team• Fee : RM 2

THORANAM COMPETITION RULES Each group has to consist of 2 participants. Each group will be given 5 minutes to

complete 30 thoranams. Each thoranam completed has to consist of 5

ties each. Team which has made the most thoranam

will be considered as winners.

Contest info• 10 teams (1st come 1st serve)• 4 contestants per team• Fee : RM 7 per team

PONGGAL COOKING COMPETITION RULES 1. Satu kumpulan harus mempunyai 4 orang peserta.

2. Pertandingan akan berlangsung selama 1 jam 30 minit. Pertandingan akan bermula apabila wisel ditiup.

3. Para peserta boleh menghiaskan periuk ponggal mengikut suka hati masing-masing.

Markah tambahan akan diberikan untuk perhiasan yang kreatif.

4. Barang-barang yang akan disediakan untuk pertandingan adalah seperti berikut: *periuk (ponggal paanai) *senduk kayu *beras *gula (brown and white) *garam *kismis & kacang gajus *susu *minyak sapi *mancis *kapur barus(camphor)

5. Keputusan hakim adalah muktamad.

6. Bayaran pendaftaran sebanyak RM10 akan dikenakan kepada setiap kumpulan (KIV-depends on our budget)

HENNA COMPETITION RULES

Setiap kumpulan haruslah terdiri daripada dua orang peserta, di mana seorang akan melukis inai di atas tangan seorang.

Inai akan disediakan kepada setiap kumpulan.

Masa yang diberikan kepada setiap kumpulan ialah selama 20 minit.

Had untuk melukis inai ialah hanya setakat tapak tangan sahaja.

Sebarang bahan rujukan tidak boleh digunakan semasa melukis inai.

  Markah akan diberikan berdasarkan kepada kekemasan dan

kreativiti lukisan inai.

Coconut bowling

Contest info• 10 teams• 3 ppl per team• Fee : RM3

COCONUT BOWLING RULESIntroduction 10 1.5 litter soda bottles create the bowling pins

and a real coconut serves as the ball for a beach-themed bowling game. A small amount of water or sand in the bottom of each soda bottle gives the pins some weight so they don't tip over as easily.

 Rules and regulation

Each team consists of 5 players. Each team is only given 3 chances to bowl. Each bottle that had been dropped will be given 5

marks. The team that successfully dropped most bottles

will be the winner.

TUG-OF-WAR COMPETITION RULES The participants are not allowed to wear shoes during the competition.

  The registered participants only allowed to take part in the competition.

Any team that fails to observe the rules and regulation herein may be disqualified.

  The competition will start according to these:-

i) lift the rope.

ii) stretch the rope.

iii) ready.

iv) first whistle indicates the game has started.

v) second whistle indicates the game has come to an end.

vi) if the whistle is blown 2 times, it means its a foul.

  4.6 Each match shall be decided over the best of 3 pulls. In the event that a third pull is

necessary in order to decide the winner, the positioning of the team shall be decided by a toss of coin.

  4.7 If the both teams are equal after 2 pulls, a 5 minute rest will be given to both

teams and the competition will continue.and again the placement is by tossing a coin.

  4.8 Players are not allowed to sit down while pulling the rope. 3 warnings will be given.

If this continues, the team will be disqualified.

  4.9 The place of the match will be determine by the commitee.

  4.10 The judges decision is final
