The Nativity of Jesus. In this newsletter is information about

Christmas caroling, giving opportunities, the Sunday School

program, worship services, and more. Everyone is invited to

participate in those special items which will enrich your Christmas

season.

The core of this season is our Advent and Christmas services. It is a

wonderful time to invite a neighbor or friend who may not have a

church home to come and worship with you. As the shepherds said,

"Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened,

which the Lord has told us about.”

Please note the following schedule for our worship services:

Sunday, December 16: Worship at 9 am and the Sunday School Christmas Program at 11 am.

Sunday, December 23: One worship service at 10 am.

Monday, December 24: Christmas Eve Worship at 4:30 pm.

Sunday, December 30: One worship service at 10 am.

The worship services on December 23 and 30 will be broadcast on the radio [1100AM] at 10 am. Please let

people who worship with us by radio know that the services will be on the radio those days at 10 am [not 9

am]. On Sunday, January 6, we resume our regular worship times of 9 am and 11 am.

May our Lord richly bless you and yours during this Advent

and Christmas Season.

From your Church Staff: Pastor Doug, Jennifer Johnson,

Doreen Smith, Chuck Ritterman, Sarah Trogstad,

Del and Sue Jordahl.

Caring For Our Neighbors

With the Christmas season approaching there is music in the air. With that in mind, I would like to share this

prayer:

“My heart sings with gratitude, Dear Lord, for thy generosity to me and my loved ones. Out lives

are full and may we happily share with those who have so much less.” Amen.

The “CART” designates winter socks, caps, scarves, and warm clothing for the

“Salvation Army”. There is also a box by the church office for Christmas Gifts

for the “New Life Center”. They request no liquids that contain alcohol.

This is also the month we ask for cash gifts for the “Pastor’s Discretionary

Fund” - either bring your gift to your Circle or leave a designated gift in the

church office. He has many requests for assistance throughout the year. May you

experience God’s joy as you respond as you are able.

Merry Christmas!

A correction to my Stewardship report in November. It should have read 10 school kits from Lydia Circle and 10 personal

care kits from Sarah Circle.

Nokomis News

I am looking for people who would like to “adopt” (not

literally) a child from Nokomis Child Care for

Christmas. You will get the child’s age, sex, sizes, and

choice of toy to make shopping a bit easier. If you

think this will be too expensive, consider getting

together with a friend to buy the gift.

Let me know if you want a boy or girl and age and I

will get a child for you.

Thanks for helping

Members of Pontoppidan,

Thank you for attending the memorial service for our mother and remembering her in your prayers, even after she left Fargo. Thank you, too, for honoring her with a multitude of memorials. Our family has deeply appreciated our connection to Pont over the years. Our lives are filled with the memories from as far back as 1955--confirmations, Luther League, choir practices, Happy Helpers, Sunday School, worship and fel-lowship in the basement. We have been part of a great cloud of witnesses that you at Pontoppidan have provided for us... we are children of Pontoppidan. THANK YOU!!

A Note from our Treasurer

The Congregational budget finished October with a $19,268 deficit. Our offerings for 2012 are

$4,980 less than 2011 offerings through October. The Mission budget (blue envelopes) has

been on track all year and we have been able to make all of our Mission commitments through

the 3rd

quarter. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

This Congregation has a very frugal budget, 64.5% is salaries and 9.7% goes directly to out-

side Mission support. Discipleship, Fellowship, Worship and Sunday School are supported

mostly from the Congregation’s time and talent. Pastor Doug’s message last Sunday included

passages about using the gifts and abilities that God gives us for HIS benefit. I’d like to chal-

lenge you to pray about your ability to give consistently.

I went through that process a few a years ago and set up automatic payments for my families

offering. I used the Bill Pay feature of my Internet Banking to set up payments to the general

budget and missions.

Another popular way to automatically contribute is through the Simply Giving program. Simply

Giving will automatically withdrawal your offering from a Checking Account, Savings Account

or Credit Card. A significant number of members of our Congregation have signed up for this

service. The Authorization Form for Simply Giving has been included in the newsletter for your

consideration.

If you would like to participate in Simply Giving, 1) fill out the form; 2) attach a voided check;

3) give to Chuck Ritterman, Financial Manager.

Thank you for your prayerful thoughts regarding these matters. Tom Jabens, Treasurer, Pontoppidan
