    Certification of Pool/Spa Anti-Entrapment Cover

    Installation

    On January 1, 2007, the Swimming Pool Safety Act of 2006 (Assembly Bill 2977) became

    effective and will require the following:

    Whenever a building permit is issued for the remodel or modification of a singlefamily home with an existing swimming pool, toddler pool, or spa, or whenever an

    existing swimming pool, toddler pool, or spa, is remodeled, the permit shall requirethat the suction outlet(s) of the existing swimming pool, toddler pool or spa beupgraded so as to be equipped with an anti-entrapment cover meeting current

    standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials or the American Society

    of Mechanical Engineers (ASME/ANSI Al 12.19.8).

    An inspection is required to verify compliance with the above noted requirement prior to finalapproval. If you do not wish to drain your pool to facilitate this inspection, you may choose to

    complete and sign the certificate below attesting compliance with the above noted

    requirement.

    ATTENTION POOL OWNERSRequiring Anti-Entrapment Suction Outlets Cover

    Effective January 1, 2007, Swimming Pool and Safety Act of 2006 (Assembly Bill 2977)

    requires the following:

    Whenever a building permit is issued for the remodel or modification of a single family

    home with an existing swimming pool, toddler pool, or spa, or whenever an existing

    swimming pool, toddler pool, or spa, is remodeled, the permit shall require that the

    suction outlet(s) of the existing swimming pool, toddler pool or spa be upgraded so as tobe equipped with an anti-entrapment cover meeting current standards of the American

    The City's interpretation of the wording "a building permit is issued for the remodel or

    modification of a single family home" to mean any building permit issued for work on theproperty except for maintenance, replacement and/or repair permits such as water heater

    replacement permit, gas line repair permit, foundation repair permit, etc.
