Principles of Our Pool Programming

● Programme as much water time as possible

● Establish and communicate the right culture for the pool

● Develop and update a strategic overview of the facilities in the area

● Consider the whole swimmer pathway when programming pools

● Develop swimming infrastructure through pool programming:

► Grow meaningful participation with return customers

► Build performance development and performance

► Improve the quality of teachers and coaches● Consider customer pathway and retention

Challenges

Staff: - Additional Staff Required- Education of Staff- Changing the mindset of staff

Facility: - Increased Lane Changes- Additional Equipment

Customers: - Education of Customers (new pool area/new times/new distances and depths)

Timelines• First meeting with Scottish Swimming October 2013

• Initial draft proposed January 2014• Final draft agreed February 2014• Staff Meetings February 2014

• New programme started March 2014• Reviewed during summer 2014

• Continue for second block August 2014• Second review due September/October 2014

Way Forward / Future Plans

• Gradually roll out to all venues across the City:– Started with North Woodside (Aug 2014)– New Tollcross (Oct 2014)– Existing 4 venues (Jan 2015)– Existing 5 Venues (Mar 2015)

– Increase opportunities for different disciplines– Create a multi skilled workforce

Tollcross Swimming AcademyNew programme to be developed for Tollcross Swim Academy

This will include:• 40min lessons• Introduction of swim membership scheme• Direct Debit options for parents• Automatic and continuous Bookings
