LETTERS MAILED TO 240 PARISHIONERS

As summer approaches, we begin housecleaning chores regarding our parish files. Nearly half of our parish’s 3,000 families (1500 families) do not receive monthly offertory/collection envelopes. After careful examination of our records, we took 240 families off from the envelope system for not using envelopes! This leaves 1500 families who do receive envelopes. We wish every family would use envelopes or donate online. Unfortunately, this just doesn’t happen. It is most difficult to determine if a family is active, nonactive or nonexistent without a way to track offerings. It is also rare that a family informs us if they are moving so that we might take them off our records. All mail that is produced and that cannot be delivered is a tremendous expense for St. Lucie Parish. This is something that each of us should be aware of. Nearly every month we spend between $700-$800 in envelopes and mailings. Those of the 240 families who received a letter from Fr. Mark this week should reply to the Parish Office. This can easily be done by updating your registration information. A blank registration paper was included with your letter. Drop them by the Parish Office (M-F from 8AM until 4PM) or drop them in any collection basket. If you still desire offertory envelopes we can reinstate them.

Altar Server Application Being an Altar Server is a great

privilege! Altar Servers are chosen by God to be part of a very special group of people serving Him at His altar. Perhaps the Lord is calling you if you can answer “yes” to the following:

Are you willing to sacrifice other interests and be responsible, reverent, dependable, and willing to serve at Mass when needed? If you answered “Yes” to ALL of these questions, the Lord may be calling you. Answer His call! Complete the form below and place it in the next offertory basket or drop it off at the parish office. You will be contacted by Mr. Fred Marangio. Name: ____________________________________ Address: __________________________________ __________________________________________ Phone: ( ) ___________________________ Date of Birth: _______________________________ Parent/Guardian: ___________________________

CONFESSIONS The purpose of Confession is to reconcile man to God. When we sin, we deprive ourselves of God’s grace. And by doing so, we make it even easier to sin some more. The only way out of this downward cycle is to acknowledge our sins, to repent of them, and to ask God’s forgiveness. Then, in the Sacrament of Confession, grace can be restored to our souls, and we can once again resist sin. Confession is one of the seven sacraments recognized by the Catholic Church. As Catholics we believe that the sacraments are an outward sign of an inward grace. In this case, the outward sign is the absolution, or forgiveness of sins, that the priest grants to the penitent (the person confessing his sins); the inward grace is the reconciliation of the penitent to God. Confessions are offered at St. Lucie every Saturday from 2:30 until 3:30 PM and every first Friday of the month from 7:00 AM until 7:20 AM, and 8:00 AM until 8:20 AM. (This occurs before the morning masses.) The schedule has few exceptions. Requests may also be made with a priest for Confession outside these hours.

HURRICANE PRAYER

God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes which may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety of storms and give us an ardent trust and hope in Your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind and the rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance, for you are our only Refuge. We ask this through Christ Your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

SUMMER CAMP 2019 Children from Holy Cross Church in Indiantown (Fr. Francisco Osorio’s church) are praying for sponsors for their summer program. You can help a needy child enjoy “Vacation Bible Summer Program 2019” by making a donation for the week of June 24th through 28th. This is known as “The Best Summer and Vacation Ever” for the children! The program will include daily mass, breakfast, lunch, music crafts, games, and daily trips: Spanish River Park, the beach, movie theater, Super Play at Port St. Lucie, Movie Theater at PBG, and Bush Gardens in Tampa. Fr. Francisco asks for your prayers so that the children and their families will find some peace, joy and fun during this week. Of course, a successful program needs funding too. Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted and most appreciated! The children themselves will send you a personal photo and thank you note. Perhaps a ministry at St. Lucie might wish to sponsor a child? Contacts are listed below. More information will be gladly provided. Phone the Church Office at (772) 597-2798 or email at [email protected]. If sending a check please send your gift directly to:
