Sketching out many different reptiles helped create an understanding as to what made a reptile look like a rep-tile. This allowed me to have a lot more freedom in the sketch models when trying to determine what elements of the chameleon needed to be utilized in order for the over-all form to be recognizable.

The final design is made of four parts: the base, the nose, and two eyes. The eyes are constructed so that they simply roll up through a slit for the mask to be worn like a pair of glasses.
