Configuration Options

To use POS Consumer Digital Display (CDD), you must have the following software configuration options enabled on your system:

Option 1042 "POS 2.0 Consumer Digital Display on System” must be set to Y.

Option 7100 “POS 2.0 Number of Consumer Digital Display Terminal Licenses” must be set to the number of terminals licensed to use POS CDD. For the procedure to license terminals for POS CDD, see the job aid “Un-Licensing and Licensing Terminals.”

Required Software

You must download the software for this device from Epicor's website. Click here to

download the software.

Eagle server level 33.1085 or higher

Eagle for Windows client software level 21.0658 or higher

Required Hardware

Square or wide-screen PC monitor

Workstation with dual port video card or USB/VGA adapter

POS CDD: Monitor Installation

For POS Consumer Digital Display (CDD), Epicor offers the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter from CablesToGO, model number 30540, which provides an easy method for connecting a secondary monitor. The following procedure describes how to install and configure the

USB/VGA adapter for both Windows XP and Windows 7.

Windows XP Installation

1. Power on the workstation and log into Windows. 2. Connect the secondary monitor to the VGA port on the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter, then

power on the secondary monitor.

3. Insert the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter into an available USB port on the workstation.

The "Found New Hardware" wizard displays, and Windows automatically installs the necessary software from the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter. When the process completes, the „Restarting Windows‟ prompt displays.

4. Select the option "Yes, I want to restart my computer now," and click OK.

A "System Settings Change" window displays, prompting to restart your computer.

5. Click Yes. The workstation will reboot. 6. After the workstation reboots, log into Windows. Both monitors should display the desktop. 7. Locate the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter Utility in the Windows system tray located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen:

8. Right-click the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter Utility icon. The Configuration menu displays. 9. Make sure that "Extended" is checked.

10. While in the Configuration menu, click "Display Settings." The "Display Properties" window displays. 11. Verify that monitors 1 and 2 display. Make any changes to the screen resolution as necessary. Click OK when finished.

Windows 7 Installation

1. Power on the workstation and log into Windows.

2. Click here to install the USB 2.0 VGA Adaptor driver using the CablesToGo webpage.

Click the link at the bottom of the page that says "Updated Driver Now Available! Click

Here."

When prompted to Open or Save a file, press Open.

Once the file has been opened, select to Unzip the file.

Once the file has been unzipped, double-click Setup.exe. The driver installation begins.

Accept the User License Agreement. The driver begins downloading.

Once the driver is finished downloading,when you are prompted to restart your

computer, click Yes to Restart.

3. Connect the secondary monitor to the VGA port on the USB2.0 Adapter. 4. Insert the USB 2.0 VGA Adaptor into an available USB port on the workstation. Power

on the secondary monitor.

Windows will locate the driver and automatically install and configure the monitor settings.

5. Locate and right-click on the USB 2.0 VGA Adapter Utility icon in the Windows system

tray on the lower right corner of the screen:

6. Select "Display Settings." The Windows 7 Display Properties window displays. 7. Verify that monitors 1 and 2 display. Many any necessary changes to the screen resolution. Click OK when finished.

POS CDD: Select Layout

The layout of the POS Consumer Digital Display (CDD) is set by terminal. The Image Scheme and Marquee Scheme can be set by System, Store or Terminal. The layout displays the

following:

The Virtual Receipt displays on the left of the screen. This allows the customer to see the details of their transaction.

The Marquee is a scrolling message that displays at the bottom of the screen. You can

set up multiple scrolling messages to display in a Marquee Scheme.

The Image displays on the right of the screen. Depending on which layout you choose, you can display up to two alternating images. The alternating images are set up in an Image Scheme.

Select Layout

There are three different layouts from which you can choose. The CDD application performs an auto-size of the image files, but Epicor recommends that you size the image files as described

below.

Note: The CDD application allows for the following image types: .bmp, .jpg or .gif.

Layout 1 – Ideal for square monitors with up to two Image Schemes. The images

should be the following dimensions:

Image Area 1: Width – 504 Pixels, Height – 378 Pixels

Image Area 2: Width – 504 Pixels, Height – 342 Pixels

Layout 2 – Ideal for wide-screen monitors with one Image Scheme. The images should

be the following dimensions:

Image Area 1: Width – 662 Pixels, Height – 602 Pixels

Layout 3 – Ideal for square monitors with one Image Scheme. The images should be

in the following dimensions:

Image Area 1: Width – 504 Pixels, Height – 710 Pixels

Storing Images

Once you have determined the layout for the CDD and have sized your images to fit accordingly, the image files must be stored in the following locations:

Standalone client PCs: store the images in C:\3apps\Userdata\CDD

Network Master PCs: store the images in C:\3net\Userdata\CDD

POS CDD: Image Scheme and Marquee Scheme Setup

Device Configuration is the primary application used to set up and configure the Image and Marquee Schemes for the POS Consumer Digital Display (POS CDD). Execute the following

steps on the POS CDD workstation where a second monitor has already been installed.

1. From the Eagle Browser, click Utilities in the left pane, and then select Device Configuration. The Device Configuration Window displays.

2. Locate "Consumer Display" in the list of available devices. 3. Double-click "Consumer Display" or click Change (F5). 4. In the Select Device prompt, highlight "Consumer Digital Display, Full Screen," then click

OK. 5. When prompted to drag the window so that it is entirely on the Consumer Digital Display

Monitor, place your cursor on top of this window, hold the left-click on your mouse and move the window so that it is centered on the Consumer Display monitor.

6. Click OK when finished. 7. When the "Consumer Display" window displays, click Options.

8. When the "Consumer Digital Display Setup & Test" window displays, click Schemes.

9. In the "Maintain Consumer Display" dialog that displays, select 1 – Image Schemes.

10. When you receive the prompt stating that no image schemes exist, click Add. 11. In the "Add Scheme" window, enter a unique description at the bottom of the window to

name your scheme, then click Save.

Note: You can set up a different Image Scheme by System, Store, or Terminal. If you plan to set up the Image Scheme by Store or Terminal, the description should be a unique name to distinguish the store or terminal.

12. In the "Image Screen" dialog, click "Image Add." The "Add Image to Scheme" dialog

displays.

In the File field, use the drop-down to select the image you previously saved.

If you want to customize the order in which this image displays, enter the order number in the Order field, or leave blank and the order will be in the same order that the image

was selected.

If you want this image to always display on the CDD, keep the Schedule field set to N. If you want this image to only display on a defined schedule, set this field to Y.

13. Click OK when finished. 14. If you set the Schedule field to N, skip this step. If you set the Schedule field to Y, then in the Images Schedule dialog that displays, select a day of the week and/or a start and end date and/or a start and end time as to when this image should display. Then click OK.

15. If desired, continue adding more images to the Image Scheme by clicking "Image Add." You may also update and/or delete existing images by using the corresponding buttons on the

right.

16. When you have finished adding all of the images to the Image Scheme, click OK.

17. When the "Consumer Digital Display Image Screen" dialog displays, you can add

another Image Scheme by clicking Add, or click OK if finished.

You may also update, delete or make a copy of an existing Image Scheme.

18. When finished creating your Image Scheme, in the Maintain Consumer Display dialog,

select 2 – Marquee Schemes.

19. Click Add in the Consumer Digital Display Marquee Scheme dialog.

20. In the Save Scheme window, enter a unique description at the bottom to name your

Marquee Scheme, and then click Save.

Note: You can set up a different Marquee Scheme by System, Store or Terminal. If you plan to setup the Marquee Scheme by Store or Terminal, the description should be a

unique name to distinguish the store or which terminal.

21. In the Add Marquee Phrase dialog, do the following:

In the Phrase field, enter the phrase of the scrolling message you want to display at the bottom of the CDD screen.

If you want to customize the order in which this marquee displays, enter the order number in the Order field, or leave blank and the order will be in the same order that the

marquee was selected.

If you want this marquee to always display on the CDD, keep the Schedule field set to N. If you want this marquee to only display on a defined schedule, set the Schedule option to Y. Click OK when finished.

22. If you set the Schedule field to N, skip this step. If you set the Schedule field to Y, then in the Marquee Schedule dialog that displays, select a day of the week and/or a start and end date

and/or a start and end time as to when this marquee should display. Then click OK.

23. If desired, continue adding scrolling messages to the Marquee Scheme by clicking Add. You may also update and/or delete existing scrolling messages by using the corresponding

buttons on the right.

24. When all of the marquees have been added to the Marquee Scheme, click OK.

25. You can continue to add more Marquee Schemes by clicking Add in the Consumer Digital Display Marquee Scheme window, or click OK to exit the Marquee Scheme setup dialog.

26. Once all of the Image Schemes and Marquee Schemes have been added, exit Device

Configuration.

You are now ready to set up your POS CDD options.

POS CDD: Setting Up Options

Set up the following options in Options Configuration to select which Image Scheme and which Marquee Scheme to use on the POS Consumer Digital Display (CDD) terminals.

Option 2311 "POS 2.0 Consumer Digital Display Marquee Scheme." Set this option to the Marquee Scheme of your choice. This option can be set by System, Store or

Terminal.

Option 2312 "POS 2.0 Consumer Digital Display Image Area 1 Scheme." Set this option to the Image Scheme for Area 1 of your choice. This option works with Layouts 1, 2 and 3. This option can be kept by System, Store or Terminal.

Option 2313 "POS 2.0 Digital Display Image Area 1 Delay." Set this option to the length of time in seconds you wish to display a single image in the Image Scheme set in Option 2312. For example, if this option is set to 20 and you have five images within your Image Scheme, the first image will display for 20 seconds before displaying the

second image. This option is only kept by System.

Option 2314 "POS 2.0 Consumer Digital Display Image Area 2 Scheme." Set this option to the Image Scheme for Area 2 of your choice. This option only works with

Layout 1. This option can be kept by System, Store or Terminal.

Option 2315 "POS 2.0 Consumer Digital Display Image Area 2 Delay." Set this option to the length of time in seconds you wish to display a single image in the Image Scheme set in Option 2314. For example, if this option is set to 20 and you have five images within your Image Scheme, the first image displays for 20 seconds before displaying the second image. This option only works with Layout 1. This option is only

kept by System.

Now that you have setup your Image and Marquee Schemes and have defined them in Options Configuration, you are now ready to test and use your new, customized POS Consumer Digital Display.

Testing the CDD on a POS CDD Workstation

1. From the Eagle Browser, click Utilities in the left pane, then click Device Configuration. 2. Highlight the Consumer Display device, and either double-click with the mouse, or click

Change (F5). 3. In the Consumer Display window, click Options. 4. In the Consumer Digital Display Setup & Test Options dialog, select the layout you wish

to use for this terminal.

Note: This should have been determined at the time of selecting and saving your images to build the Image Schemes.

5. In the "Consumer Digital Display Setup & Test Options," click Test. 6. In the Test Consumer Digital Display dialog, confirm the Image and Marque Schemes,

then click OK.

You should see the POS CDD on the extended monitor.

7. In the "Test Consumer Digital Display" dialog, click OK to exit the test.

Setting up the Remaining Licensed Terminals for POS CDD

1. Make sure the second monitor has been installed on each workstation. See the Monitor Installation for the setup steps.

2. From the Eagle Browser, click Utilities in the right pane, then click Device Configuration. 3. Highlight the Consumer Display device and either double-click with the mouse, or click

Change (F5). 4. In the „Select Device‟ window, highlight "Consumer Digital Display, Full Screen," then

click OK.

You will receive the following prompt to drag the window to the monitor of choice.

5. With your cursor on this prompt, click and hold the left-click on the mouse, and drag the

window to the second monitor. Click OK when finished.

6. In the "Consumer Display" dialog, click Options. 7. In the "Consumer Digital Display Setup & Test Options" dialog, select the Layout number to use from the drop-down for this terminal. 8. Click Test. The POS CDD should display on the second monitor. 9. In the "Consumer Digital Display Setup & Test Options," click OK, and close Device Configuration.
