The position will be responsible for overseeing the Institute’s third party enabling, undergraduate and post-graduate coursework teaching commitments within the Batchelor-CDU partnership. The position will manage the higher education Senior Lecturers and teaching teams and work closely with CDU Heads of Schools and key personnel of the CDU Office of the PVC Academic to ensure the Institute’s commitment to quality and performance is achieved in Batchelor’s teaching commitment within CDU. Key responsibilities 1. Coordinate the implementation and on-going monitoring and reporting of the Institute’s Teaching and Learning Plan as it relates to higher education delivery, planning and student growth. 2. Manage the human resources within the School of Higher Education, including performance reviews of Senior Lecturers and assigning of workloads to ensure optimal and equitable teaching load across the teaching teams.

Key responsibilities1. Coordinate the implementation and on-going monitoring and reporting of the Institute’s Teaching and

Learning Plan as it relates to higher education delivery, planning and student growth.

2. Manage the human resources within the School of Higher Education, including performance reviews of Senior Lecturers and assigning of workloads to ensure optimal and equitable teaching load across the teaching teams.

3. Liaise regularly and negotiate with relevant CDU Heads of School and the CDU Office of Learning and Teaching on matters to do with the BIITE-CDU Partnership with particular emphasis on course curriculum, course/unit delivery, staffing and performance, on-line learning and student engagement etc.

4. Collaborate with CDU’s Office of PVC Academic on the development and implementation of strategy, policy and procedures for continuous quality improvement of relevance to the BIITE-CDU Partnership.

5. Support institutional planning and responses to the requirements of the Tertiary Educational Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).

6. Support institutional planning around the strategic objective of re-developing, self-accrediting and delivering Institute courses at AQF 7 level.

7. Provide educational planning advice relating to learning and teaching to higher education academic units and, where required, related support units of the Institute and at CDU.

8. Chair and participate in relevant meetings, committees, working parties and other forums as appropriate and represent the Institute on internal and external forums as required.

9. Work closely with the Senior Lecturers, CDU Schools and Institute and CDU Marketing teams to support activities that increase course awareness and student enrolment.

10. Contribute to the scholarly profile of the Institute by participating in Office of Learning and Teaching projects and, where appropriate, Higher Degree by Research candidate supervision.

11. Any other duties of a compatible nature as may be required by the Executive Director.

Essential Selection Criteria1. Postgraduate qualifications at doctoral level and a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in higher

education leadership roles.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of effective student learning and engagement strategies, tools and technologies, preferably as applied to the education and training of adult Indigenous learners from diverse cultural backgrounds and geographical locations.

3. A record of significant contribution to teaching, research and tertiary education and established national networks across the Higher Education sector, State and Federal funding agencies and professional bodies.

4. Significant experience in, and knowledge of curriculum development and approval processes, academic planning, policy development and quality assurance in the Higher Education sector.

5. Demonstrated capacity to collaborate with individuals, operational units and partner institutions to provide an integrated and client focused approach to third party teaching in the tertiary education context.

6. Proven capacity to work effectively and cooperatively in culturally diverse teams and in cross-cultural contexts, preferably within the social, political and cultural environments of Australian Indigenous communities and organisations.

7. Highly developed written and oral communication, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.

8. Advanced computer application skills, experience with a range of learning management systems and an ability to adapt to new technologies and applications.

9. Possess a Current criminal history check or the ability to obtain one.

10. Possess a current NT OCHRE Card or the ability to obtain one.

11. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute HS Policies and Procedures.

Desirable Selection Criteria1. Experience working in a dual sector tertiary education environment.

2. Experience in obtaining and managing grants to support the learning and teaching initiatives of the organisation.

3. A record of successful supervision of Higher Degree by Research Candidates
