Post-Construction Monitoring
Purpose is to understand how the project is improving (or maybe not) any part of the stream system to measure success Actually starts pre-construction! What sampling has already been done? Don’t forget many agencies have done sampling on many
different AMD streams; DEP, TU, SRBC, CD’s, PFBC TMDL
Post-Construction Monitoring Should include chemical grab samples, field measurements,
macroinveribrates, and fish Should include some physical monitoring as well: Flow Temp
Sampling Protocols Protocols need to be followed, most always ICE (DEP’s Instream Comprehensive Evaluation Protocols)
Not all data collected by outside organizations can be
accepted by the agencies that determine the condition of the stream

Trout Unlimited – Technical Assistance Grant •Rapid characterization of mine drainage •Rapid watershed snapshot •Existing treatment system evaluation and recommendations •Pre- and/or post-construction biological and/or habitat surveys

provide FREE organizational and scientific technical assistance to Pennsylvania-based watershed and conservation organizations.
