Overview of the current state of the forest industry. The event summarized the preliminary results of the forest industry in 2019. Also, industry experts discussed the tim-ber market in Russia, global lumber sales markets, wood panels distribution in Russia, investment projects in the forest industry and other relevant topics.

Conference “Wood panels industry overview: analysis of the current situation, cases from manufacturers” gathered manufacturers and suppliers of plate materials, as well as investment project development specialists. During the session, an analysis was made of the current situation on the market of wood-based panels, and manufacturers shared their successful cases.

Woodex had an extensive 3-day business programme that covered the industry’s strategic growth and practical issues. The business programme events attracted 386 attendees and more than 50 expert speakers representing woodworking and furniture industries.


BUSINESS PROGRAMME

At the conference “Manufacturing automation in the furniture industry” speakers discussed the use of industri-al robots in woodworking on the example of Russian enterprises, as well as solutions for the automation of furniture production.

At the conference “Comparative analysis of Russian and imported equipment for the wooden doors manufactur-ing” speakers touched upon a quality of door products and requirements for its production, as well as equipment for the manufacture of wooden doors.

Session “CREATIVE WOOD: ideas, manufacturing, market. Session on wooden furniture and joinery design. Industry professionals discussed the relevance of integrating craft and ornamental traditions into modern furniture manufacturing as a “Made in Russia” identification tool in the global market; prospects for the development of collection design as a guide for the mass market and the formation of the taste of the local consumer; issues of export, competitiveness and positioning of the Russian furniture industry abroad.

The conference “Chemical industry for woodworking” addressed the following issues: Chemical industry products for wood processing; Innovative developments in varnishes, paints and sealants for wood; Prospects for the develop-ment of relations between the chemical and woodworking industries.

BUSINESS PROGRAMME

At the case-session “Success formula for furniture companies: how to set up production, increase its volumes and enter new markets” furniture companies shared their success stories: how to set up production and then scale.

SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management held a meeting on innovation management in the timber industry. During the meeting, the faculty staff reviewed international successful practices and examples of failures, cases of introducing innovations, and made recommendations on how to build processes and manage people to launch innovations.

Conference: Wood pellets, briquettes and chips: produc-tion, distribution, consumption. Participants discussed pressing issues of wood waste management, as well as issues of production, marketing and consumption of fuel pellets, briquettes, wood chips and other types of biofuels.

Glued timber: new markets and technologies for timber manufacturers. The main theme of the conference: export opportunities that open up for Russian sawmills in connec-tion with the development of the global markets for CLT, KVH, glued beams and other glued products of mass demand.
