Postcards from the Torrid Zone
Using effective teamwork, story and gamification to create a vibrant suite of reusable learning
objects

Getting Started
Why?Addressing a need
Our Off-Campus students can’t attend face-to-face classes.
Our On-Campus students aren’t as “on campus” as they used to be.
A digital collection benefits from a digital IL class.
Our students don’t all have the same starting point.
Kids these days, eh?
What?A suite of reusable learning
objects
It had to start from scratch.
It had to be self-paced.
It had to be reusable.
We didn’t need to reinvent the wheel (at least, not *every* wheel).
Then there was this
“Gamification” thing.
Well?Outcomes and lessons learnt.
We learnt a lot about team
work.
We actually impressed ourselves.
We reached a lot of people (all things considered).
We need to fix a few thing.
^s
We learnt a lot from this presentation.
