This programme has been designed to produce IT graduates who are able to think critically and have a number of high level skills in the IT field that can be applied in a wide range of situations. Graduates of the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology will have an understanding of the broad conceptual and theoretical elements involved in the information and communications technology area. This includes: A sound knowledge of the information technology environment and its effective management; The ability to analyse the needs of business and make recommendations for IT services and systems; The ability to advise on, develop and implement innovations leading to a more efficient use of resources within a dynamic information technology environment; The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with personnel and clients having diverse backgrounds; The motivation for continued learning and self-development to cope effectively with change; and An understanding of the legal, regulatory and ethical frameworks of the IT sector. ENTRY CRITERIA

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Information Technology or related field.

Those applicants wishing to apply for the Master of Information Technology must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Information Technology or related field, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology , with an average of B or better across all courses.Where a candidate’s undergraduate degree does not provide the basis of study at the level required for more advanced study, students will be required to enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

IELTS (6.5 Academic) with no band score lower than 6.0 or equivalent, PTE score of 60 or above, or completion of an EIT Hawke’s Bay assessment.
