Applying DVA to Reduce Maintenance CostsSituation: At the recommendation of another supplier, a Western area power generation facility was carefully considering the replacement of its coal conveyor system at a cost of approximately $117,500. Before proceeding, the customer sought alternative solutions and contacted Applied®.

Solution: Applied® performed an ultrasound test on the conveyor belt, revealing that the belt was in good condition. The belt’s sides were showing some wear due to a misaligned centering roller on the conveyor. The centering roller was adjusted to avoid further belt wear.

Savings: By conducting the belt inspection at a cost of $1,024, the company realized $116,476 in repair expense savings.
