    COMPONENTS OF POWER SUPPLY UNITTransformer

    The transformer is a static device that transfers electrical energyfrom the primary winding to the secondary winding withoutaffecting the frequency. It is used to step-up or step-down the acvoltage level and isolates the remainder of the electronic systemfrom the ac power.

    RectifierThe rectifier is a device used to change the ac power into pulsatingdc. The basic rectifier is the diode. The three basic rectifier circuitsusing diodes are the half-wave, full-wave center-tapped and full-wave bridge type.

    FilterThe filter of the power supply is used to keep the ripple componentfrom appearing in the output. It is designed to convert pulsatingDC from rectifier circuits into a suitably smooth dc level. The twobasic types of power supply filters are the capacitance filter (C-filter) and RC-filter.

    right one the PFC controller anICE2PCS01and anLM393voltagecomparator, which assists in overvoltage and undervoltageprotection, are installed. On the left PCB resides aUCC28950IC

    which is the controller responsible for the main switchers and theother IC on this board is aUCC27324, a high speed low-side power

    mosfet driver.
