U nderstanding Drywood termite life cycle and biology are crucial to creating a successful

termite treatment to protect your home for years to come. The most important items affecting the treatment designs are:

1. Termites (swarm) every year to spread colonies and will often infest the same side of a home over and over. Having a process with a long residual is crucial.

2. Termites have a Supplementary reproductive caste that allows a colony to survive the loss of the Queen. So the process must be undetected by termites allowing them to use their social structure to spread the product and eliminate the colony.

Drywood Termites

H ere are some simple ways to distinguish flying termites (Swarmers) from winged

ants. Winged termites have a straight waist and straight antennae. Their wings are equal in size and are shed soon after they emerge from their colony, or swarm. Winged termites usually swarm in both the early spring and fall depending on the species.

Flying ants have pinched waists and bent antennae and are often mistaken for swarming termites. They have two sets of wings, one larger than the other. Depending on their species, flying ants may swarm at different times of the year.

Termites vs Ants

K ilFoam is Kilter Termite & Pest Control’s

answer to controlling Drywood termites without all the hassles of conventional, more extreme Drywood termite treatment. KilFoam is the exclusive, time-tested system developed by Kilter. KilFoam has proven to be the industry leader in Drywood termite treatment and is acclaimed for its convenience to the homeowner and the longevity of the protection.

Here is KilFoam in 4 easy steps.

Step One: A complete inspection of the property is the foundation for any quality termite treatment. Identifying the types and locations of the infestation allow us to recommend multiple solutions for your property. We inspect all accessible areas including: Attics, Exteriors, Interiors, Garages and Sub-Structures. Kilter has spared no expense in employing the industry’s most experienced, state licensed, Wood Destroying Organism inspectors. With an average

industry experience of 20 years, our Inspectors know what they are looking for.

Step Two: Kilter’s experience and training have given us an understanding of Drywood termite migration patterns that led us to the Kil-Series system of drilling. Using a very specific drill pattern, our licensed technicians infiltrate the colony, and kill the active area of infestation.

Step Three: Our KilFoam is injected using a specific pattern based on the construction of your home to completely envelop the area keeping it protected into the future.

Step Four: We apply our Prevent treatment, a topical coat of to all exposed timbers in the garage and attic. This product diffuses into the wood members offering extended protection to the most vulnerable areas of your home.

Introducing KilFoam

Did you Know? Termites are descendants of Cockroach like ancestors.

3

3. Termites move freely from board to board without being detected. The process must envelop the entire area of infestation.

4. Termites cause more monetary damage to homes then all fires and floods combines. The process must be effective.

5. Drywood termites communicate using powerful chemicals called pheromones. That is one of the reasons termites return to properties that have been infested in the past. The process must have a long residual.

Introducing Prevent

P revent was developed to satisfy the most conscientious of our clientele. Prevent is the treating of all open framing of the home, apartment, or commercial building before there are any signs

of infestation. This is truly the proactive, forward thinking treatment that Kilter Termite & Pest Control has developed to prevent you from getting termites in the most sensitive areas of your home or building.

Spray all of the open framing in the house with a borate solution that we call prevent. Prevent is a naturally occurring system that acts in two ways. First, it is a wood preservative and, second, it is a termite preventative. Prevent, kill them before they get started.

I f termite services could exercise, KilGuard would be the incredible hulk of treatments.

KilGuard is the sentinel at the door of the castle. KilGuard is the new standard in termite protection against ALL termites in Southern California. Combining all of our time-tested treatments into one powerful line of defense for your home. Here’s how it works in 5 steps.

Step One: A Complete inspection Our inspection quality is second to none. With over 20 years of experience and an average inspector tenure of 8 years, we have more than enough expertise to find and report all the infestation that inhabits your property.

Step Two: It is not common that a company take such care in the injecting of their products. Kilter has taken the standard to a completely different level. Our KilFoam process uses a strategic pattern to inject our high tech products with efficiency to ensure complete protection.

Step Three: Let’s not forget the infamous Subterranean termite, the most common, discreet and destructive

termite in Southern California. Compass places a solid 360- degree perimeter protection around your home to ensure complete protection from the most destructive termites in southern California.

Step Four: Because of the constant return of Drywood termites to areas previously infested, we envelop all of the open framing in the attic and garage with Prevent. A natural wood preservative that keeps termites from surviving once they return.

Step Five: Because termites will continually attempt to enter your property, a regular inspection and treatment is your best option and KilCare is the answer. The KilCare policy with KilGuard will cover your entire home for retreatment for both Drywood and Subterranean termites for 2 years, which can be extended annually and transferred to new owners.

Introducing KilGuard All of our termite treatments combined to deliver unparalleled complete protection against all termites at tremendous savings

Did You Know? Did you know that all of Kilter’s Kil-Series treatments come with a 2 year warranty? Even if you have a bad dream about a termite, we will come back out to take a look.

A nswering the call to provide an alternate to ordinary Subterranean termite treatments,

Kilter Termite & Pest Control presents Compass. Compass is a 360 circle of protection around your home, apartment, or commercial building. It is the most complete system for Subterranean termites in the industry and its backed by Kilter’s 20 year reputation.

Subterranean termites could live in your home for years without you even seeing them. They could live up to 130 feet away and come up through cracks as small as 1/64th of an inch. That’s why you need a company like Kilter to do the inspection. No one has more expertise.

Raised Foundations: Compass execution on a raised foundation means creating a 4x2 trench underneath the structure along the foundation

wall, filling it with our technologically advance product, and then back filling the dirt.

Slab Foundations: We insert our product around the foundation every 18 inches to encircle the entire building. In areas where you have tile, brick or other decorative material we are able to use our foaming process to complete the process. Any interior infestations are treated at and around the infestation. This system provides a continuous barrier to kill active infestations as well as protect against future problems. Nothing says protection like Compass.

Introducing Compass

Did You Know? Kilter has been a leader in general pest control for over 20 years? Roaches, ants, fleas, etc. You name it, we can help.

Wood Replacement

R eplacing the damaged wood is a crucial part of the overall treatment strategy for

your home/property, damaged wood not only compromises the structural integrity of the property but also provides easier access to wood destroying pests and organisms which can further damage important structural members of your property.

As a licensed State Contractor you can be assured that you and your property are covered by our General Liability and Workers Compensation policies.

Our Process

1. Our Licensed inspectors perform a complete inspection of the property to identify any wood that has been compromised by wood destroying pests or organisms, including Carpenter Ants, Fungus/Rot, Subterranean termites, Drywood termites and other wood destroying pests.

2. Our technicians remove the wood members identified by the inspector, and check the integrity of the surrounding boards.

3. All of the replacement wood is primed prior to installation. This allows for the most complete priming of the replacement boards.

4. If requested our technicians can paint the replacement boards prior to installation.

5. We caulk all seams and leave each repair ready for paint.

A vital part of completing the termite treatment is repairing the damage that termites may have caused to your home. Here are some important reasons to restore the damaged timbers.

1. Repairing the damage helps future inspectors identify new vs. old infestations.

2. Restores the structural integrity of the damaged areas.

3. Allows you to maintain the paint on your home, which can help prevent new infestations.

4. Removes compromised timbers that can be more susceptible to Dry rot or other infestations.

Termites eat and destroy timbers from the inside out, so if you can see termite damage you can bet that severe damage has been done internally to the infested wood. Many times it is crucial that damaged wood be replaced to preserve the integrity of the house or structure. Replacement of termite infested wood is Kilter’s Specialty. We maintain full control of the quality of the repairs by having our own full time wood replacement crews that do all of the replacement and repairs in house.

How do they damage your home?

S mall cracks and openings in the exterior of your home are an invitation to termites. Termites only need a crack 1/64″ in the

exterior of your home to get in and establish a colony. Termites work twenty four hours per day. Like a colony of ants, “worker” termites bring food to the colony through tunnels. These tunnels are cut through the very structure of your home, work continues around the clock. The only preventative measure against replacement of termite-infested wood is to install a long lasting product into or on the timbers. All repairs come with a 1 year warranty.

T ypically pest control companies have focused on trapping the existing infestation

and then sealing the current access points for rodents. This type of treatment normally carries

a warranty of up to 90 days and rodents will often return within one year. The strong pheromone rodents leave behind in their urine will act like a

magnet, eventually drawing the rodents back and creating yet

another infestation.

Kilter’s Exclusive Rodex System can eliminate this re-entry pattern. Our Seven-Step System is thorough and effective and will ensure you the best protection against future rodent infestations. Kilter professionals will go over the Rodex System with you; make recommendations based upon their thorough inspection and answer any and all questions you may have.

FACT: Rodent’s sense of smell is so acute they can detect the scent of previous rodents and enter the home believing it to be a safe harborage.

Introducing Rodex

FACT: The scent from rodent’s urine will remain for long periods of time and act as a roadmap to draw the rodents back to the original scent.

S outhern California is home to two primary rat spices, the Norway and Roof rats. Your

inspection will determine if you have rodents and what species you have. Rats can cause damage to structures through their gnawing and eating. These rats are also vectors of many diseases, Rats can contaminate food and introduce fleas into a home.

1. Rats gnaw through almost anything, including plastic or foam, to obtain food and/or water. Construction grade material must be used for successful repairs.

2. Rodents can gain entry to a home through a hole the size of a quarter. A thorough inspection and complete exclusion is required.

3. Rats “Urine Mark” to communicate with each other. This Urine smell acts like a beacon drawing Rats in. Thorough sanitation is required.

What can I do to prevent Rats?

1. Remove food sources: Fallen birdseed, pet food, fallen fruit and open garbage cans.

2. Remove Water sources: Fix plumbing leaks, remove outdoor sources of standing water, look for small drips from outdoor spigots.

3. Remove access points: trim overhanging trees and vines.

4. Remove harborages: Debris piles, stacked wood.

5. Seal home. Look for and seal openings ½ inch or larger.

Understanding Rodents

FACT: AS of July 2013, 58 cases of Hantavirus had been reported for the year in California.

11

Page 8: Powerful · nderstanding Drywood termite life cycle and biology are crucial to creating a successful termite treatment to protect your home for years to come. The most important items

Step One: Complete InspectionKilter professionals will complete a thorough inspection of the property to locate entry points and infestation areas. The diagram on the previous page shows just some of the many entry points our licensed inspectors focus on to locate points of access for rodents.Step Two: Clean Room EntryPrior to performing any work, Kilter professionals will apply foot covers and create a “clean room entry point” to the attic.

Step Three: Sanitize Kilter professionals will sanitize all previously infested areas and attic spaces to prepare the insulation to be removed. Rodent droppings can flake and become airborne potentially circulating contaminated air through your central heating and air conditioning systems.

Step Four: Insulation Removal For blown in insulations Kilter professionals will use a high horsepower insulation removal tool to keep the dangers of inhalation of toxins from putting your family and our construction crews at risk.

Step Five: Exclusion from Re-Entry Kilter professionals will call on their 20+ years of industry education and experience in theconstruction industry to make your home a rodent free zone. The expertise of our technicians will allow them to see possible re-entry areas that ordinary pest control agencies may not see. All materials used in sealing off possible entry points are construction grade and specifically chosento return your home to its original pre infestation conditions.

Step Six: Rodent Trapping Rodents are occasionally trapped within the structure once all the entry points have been sealed off. Kilter professionals will leave traps behind and check them routinely until all rodents have been eliminated. Typically the rodents have become frightened during our construction process and one or two have been left behind

needing removal. These remaining rodents, having been separated from the pack, are usually easily caught within a few days but our technicians will monitor your home to ensure that no rodents have been left behind.

Step Seven: A final sanitation is preformed prior to reconstruction. This sanitation process removes any odors associated with infestation that rodents use to find safety or a breeding mate.

ReconstructionAs a Licensed Insulation contractor, Kilter technicians know how to correctly prepare an attic for re insulation. It is necessary to. baffle the vents (to preserve air flow) and can lighting to prevent fires. When the preparation work is completed we will sanitize the attic and install Thermal Acoustical Pest Control Insulation. The advantages of T.A.P are:

1. T.A.P Pest Control Insulation keeps homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

2. T.A.P. contains a fire retardant.

3. T.A.P’s specially formulated borates controls pests.

TAP Pest Control Insulation can only be installed by licensed pest management professionals. If you are told that a product can affect insects, ask to see the EPA label!

Install TAP Pest Control Insulation in your home and earn a tax credit of up to $500, please call for credit availability. Protect your home and save!

Kilter Professionals are happy to answer any questions you may have and provide recommendations for the future safety of your home.

Insulation Service Insulation requirements have changed over the years has your home kept up?

• Prior 1978 no insulation requirements.• After 1978 Minimum attic insulation was

R19 or 5-6 inches deep.• 2016 Minimum attic insulation is R38 or

10-12 inches deep. Insulation degrades over time causing your home to lose valuable heat in the winter and making it harder to cool in the summer months.

Why celluloseCellulose insulation, used in attic and walls, has a Class 1 rating for flame spread and smoke development when tested in accordance with ASTME84. Kilter can re-insulate your attic or top-off what you currently have to provide the essential amount of insulation to your attic. Our attic insulation is a cellulose insulation specifically designed to prevent more than 10 unwanted pests.Once an insect comes in contact with our pest control insulation, the borate particles adhere to the insect. The borate particles work to control the insect by scratching the insects exoskeleton, causing them to dehydrate.

Our process Step One: Complete InspectionKilter professionals will complete a thorough inspection of the attic.Step Two: Clean Room EntryPrior to performing any work, Kilter professionals will apply foot covers and create a “clean room entry point” to the attic.Step ThreeKilter professionals will baffle sensitive areas of the attic around ventilation and electrical fixtures.Step Four: InstallationWe will install the insulation to the desired depth.
