CEATCA President Message – Jim Allan To the best of our ability, each and everyone one of us deals with the changing world of technology. For some that ability is limited, for others new technology is readily welcomed as a tool for making life easier. IPads, itunes, iMacs, Tweets and many other terms are a part of everyday life. Texting is old hat for many people by now. I well remember when a friend showed me how to copy and paste. What a revelation! We wrestle with the meaning of digital citizenship. What is it? What benefits and challenges will new technology bring? How can we harness technology to better the quality of learning for our students? Will kids still need to read from real books? Where will the time come from to deal with all of this change? Who is going to pay for all of the upgrades needed to keep up? There are many concerns and many challenges to meet. “Powering Up” will have different meanings to many people. It could mean relating technology to teaching or maybe getting yourself strengthened to continue doing the great work you always do on behalf of children. Whatever your interpretation, please take time to enjoy the sessions you attend, to spend time with friends and colleagues, to say thanks to your colleagues who worked so hard to plan and prepare these two days and to take pride in all that you do.

District Representative Message – Léo Richer I would like to wish all the teachers from CEATCA an enriching teachers’ convention. Teachers need to take a pause from their teaching and reflect on their craft.

May you find new ideas which will inspire your teaching. Many thanks to the Convention Board for their remarkable efforts in providing a quality convention.

Your dedication at the board meetings is commendable. Please drop by and see me at the ATA kiosk during your convention should the time permit. Have a

great convention.

Clearview would like to thank all of our

dedicated staff who work hard each day for

our students and communities. May you have

an informative and enjoyable convention.

A commitment to continuous learning is one of the many qualities BRSD strives to instill in staff. As the Superintendent of Schools for BRSD, I would like to thank C.E.A.T.C.A. for helping make that learning possible by organizing another excellent convention. Ongoing participation in professional development enables each of us to “power up” -- broaden our skills, enhance our practice and grow as individuals. Most importantly, it helps us to better meet the needs of students, moving us ever closer to achieving the BRSD vision of Every Student, Every Day, A Success. -- Dr. Larry Payne

As a Math Coach for 4 years in Pembina Hills School Division, Keith has conducted 85 in-services, provided classroom support for K-8 teachers and helped administrators to incorporate a specific math goal into their School Education Plan. A major focus has been helping teachers see through the eyes of kids.
