Year 7 & 8The Year 7 & 8’s have a separate program to that of Year 9-13. There are 4 weekly competitions they may enter:

Netball North Harbour (Winter Terms 2 & 3)Basketball Leisure Centre (Terms 2 and 3, Registered termly)

Hockey (Winter Terms 2 & 3)Waterpolo Leisure Centre (Terms 2 and 3 entered termly)

Year 7 & 8 also have Zone Days that run throughout the year termly, which correspond with the sports being played at that time of year:

ZONE Days Year 7 & 8

• Zone Days are a one day inter-school competition• ‘ZONE’ is North Harbour - this includes all intermediate

schools from the Harbour Bridge to Warkworth.• Learners can express interest for as many zone days as they

wish, participation will be dependant upon numbers, trainings attended and trial.

• Each day entered will cost $15 per learner• Several weeks before the competition day learners will be

expected to attend regular trainings.• Parent help is appreciated – either as coach, manager, driver • Uniform will be either PE gear or provided Multi Purpose

Shirts(These Zone days are subject to change at any time dependant on numbers for teams

and volunteer help)

We at Whangaparaoa College agree that when playing sport we will:

• Recognise and respect the abilities and disabilities of others –both team mates and opponents

• Accept the official’s decision without gesture or argument

• Support the coaches and the requests they make of you

• Show appreciation of the coach, officials, opponents and supporters

• Advise coaches/managers of unavailability, with as much advance warning as possible

• Attend all practices, games and meetings on time

Payment will be made for the higher cost Sport and the lower one is free ie playing Hockey and Rugby, payment will be made for Hockey and Rugby will be free.

All costs are EXCLUSIVE of school van transport fee’s unless specified.Please be aware the school has a "No Pay, No Play" policy - this includes all course fee's which MUST be either fully paid or an arrangement set

up before any involvement in extra curricular activities
