What does a safe environment look like?
Emotional Safety – free of bias or slurs; if there are any, leaders address
the incident immediately
Healthy Environment – free from hazards; clean
Emergency Preparedness – emergency plan is in place; a stocked first aid
kit is visible and accessible at all programs
Accommodating Environment – space is flexible
Nourishment – water is available to youth; if snacks are offered, they
include healthy choices (e.g., apple or cheese stick)
