Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the LSAT? The Law School Admission Test is a standardized test required for admission to any American Bar Association approved law school. The LSAT is designed to measure skills that are considered essential for success in law school, including reading and understanding complex passages, analyzing information and arguments, and critical reasoning. The LSAT consists of the following five sections, and you are given 35 minutes to complete each section:

• 2 Sections of Logical Reasoning (short arguments, 24-26 total questions)

• 1 Section of Reading Comprehension (3 long reading passages and 1 comparative reading passage set, 26-28 total questions)

• 1 Section of Analytical Reasoning (4 logic games, 22-24 total questions)

• 1 Unscored Experimental Section of one of the above three section types

The five-section test is followed by a 35-minute writing sample. The writing sample is not scored, but a copy is sent to all of the law schools where you apply.

When is the next LSAT and what is the registration deadline?The LSAT is given four times a year; in February, June, October, and December. The regular registration deadline for each LSAT is typically one month prior to the listed test date.

How is the LSAT scored?Your LSAT score is based on the number of questions answered correctly, and that number is converted to a scaled score of 120 to 180, with 120 being the lowest score and 180 the highest score. The median score is approximately 151. Only about 2% of all test takers receive a score in the 170s, and almost 70% of all test takers fall into the 140 to 160 score range.

How do I sign up for the LSAT? All registration must be done through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). We recommend that you order the “LSAT and LSDAS Registration and Information Book,” which is available free of charge. The handbook contains general information on both the LSAT and LSDAS, lists all available test centers, and outlines relevant Law Services testing policies and fees. The handbook can be ordered by phone at (215) 968-1001 or on the web at www.lsac.org.

Will I lose my deposit if I withdraw from the course before it starts? As long as you withdraw at least ten business days before the start of your first class, you are entitled to a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee.

What is the PowerScore Weekend LSAT Course repeat policy? If classes are available, you can repeat our weekend course for free as long as you re-use your original material. This policy is valid for a period of one year from the date of your original enrollment. Unlike other courses, we do not require that you submit your homework in order to be eligible to repeat our course for free.

Are there publications that will provide me with extra help on the LSAT?If you wish to begin studying PowerScore techniques before the class begins, consider purchasing our LSAT Logic Games Bible and our LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible, and the Reading Comprehension Bible.
