Il polipropilene è una resina ter-moplastica, parzialmente cristal-lina, appartenente alla famigliadelle poliolefine. Questo tipo dimateriale presenta ottime carat-teristiche sia dal punto di vistameccanico che dal punto divista fisico e termico, in quantoè utilizzabile per temperature diesercizio fino a 100°C con un'e-levata resistenza all'attacco chi-mico. Nella tabella 1 sono ripor-tate le principali proprietà fisi-che. Il PP è il risultato della poli-merizzazione del propilene(C3H6) con l’aiuto di catalizzato-ri. E’ generalmente disponibilenelle seguenti 3 forme per l’im-piego nei sistemi di tubazioni:PP-Omopolimero (PPH), PP-Copolimero a Blocchi (PP-B),PP-Copolimero Random (PP-R).Il Polipropilene Omopolimero,PPH, di ultima generazione, è ilmateriale che offre la perfor-mance migliore alle temperatureintermedie. Il PPH s i pone,quindi, quale alternativa almetallo negli impieghi industrialie non. Tra le principali proprietàdelle resine Omopolimeriche diultima generazione si possonocitare:

• Durata nel tempo: il PPH pre-senta un valore elevatissimodel carico di rottura (MRS,Minimum Required Strenght =10.0 MPa). Questa caratteri-stica permette di ottenere untempo di vita del materialeestremamente lungo.

• Ott ima stabil ità termica:soprattutto nel campo di tem-peratura intermedia (40-70°C)tipico delle applicazioni indu-striali, il PPH fornisce ottimeprestazioni.

Polyproplylene is a partially cry-staline thermoplastic resinbelonging to the family ofpolyolefins. This type of materialoffers excellent characteristicsin mechanical and physicalterms and also has significantthermal properties - it is compa-tible with working temperaturesup to 100 °C - and marked resi-stance to chemical attack. Table1 shows the main phsyical pro-perties of polypropylene. Polypropylene is formed by thepolymerization of propylene(C3H6) with the aid of catalysts.The material is generally availa-ble in the following three formsfor use in pipework systems:PP-Homopolymer (PPH), PP-Block copolymer (PPB), PP-Random copolymer (PPR). Thelatest generation ofHomopolymer polypropylene,PPH, is the material that offersthe best resistance at interme-diate temperatures. Therefore,PPH is a valid alternative to theuse of metals in industrial andother applications. The main properties of the latestgeneration of homopolymerresins include:

• Stabilité thermique optimale:surtout en cas d’utilisation àdes températures intermédiai-res (40-70°C), typique desapplications industrielles : lePPH assure d’excellentes pre-stations.

• Meilleure résistance chimique:les additifs spécifiques utilisésdans sa composition ont per-mis d’obtenir une très bonnerésistance aux détergentsavec des caractérist iquesmécaniques importantes.
