Standing OVATION 2017–2018 SEASON

Kent Whitmore (the Writer/Narrator) has entertained ACT audiences for many years. Favorite roles include Harvey (Elwood Dowd), High Society (Dexter Haven), The Money in Uncle George’s Suitcase (Mitch Bryant), and The Trouble with Cats (Phillip Julian). Kent has been married to Vonnie for thirty-three years and enjoys spending time with their two children, Alicia and Bryce, and their grandson Leland. He has been active in community theater for over twenty years and is also active in Ankeny Toastmasters serving as sergeant at arms. Kent works at Broadlawns Medical Center as a social worker.

Scott Nielsen (Director) previously directed The Long Red Herring and Deathtrap at ACT and performed in multiple shows here. He has always enjoyed sharing the joys and challenges of live theater with his daughters. Scott has shared the stage with his oldest daughter, Deven, in A Christmas Carol at ACT and with his youngest daughter Denae in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at The Lofte Community Theatre in Nebraska. Both Deven and Denae were stage managers for Deathtrap and Denae is the stage manager for A Christmas Chaos (the real stage manager, not the stage manager character). Scott is very thankful for the many hours that they have spent together in theater life. He is also very thankful for his wife, Brandi, who has always supported his “theatrics”.

Lynn Arterburn (Assistant Director) is celebrating her silver anniversary with ACT. Over the past twenty-five years, she has worn many hats at ACT: director, producer, actor, costumer, and marketing coordinator - just to name a few. Lynn has served on the ACT Board of Directors as president. She is the Youth Education Director, has worked with the youth camps since 2004, and has served as the camp director since 2010. Retired from the Ankeny School District, Lynn teaches youth drama workshops at Kirkendall Library during the school year to get her “kid fix” and to have the opportunity to act silly and crazy and not be judged! In her free time, Lynn enjoys sewing, cross-stitching, taking hiking vacations with her husband, Doug, and spending time with their four grandkids (and, of course, their parents).

Standing OVATION 2017–2018 SEASON

In the world of real and unreal, things are not always what they seem. With a dash of nursery magic, ordinary toys come to life and mute the boundaries between real and imaginary. This heartwarming adaptation of Margery Williams’ classic children’s story shows how the power of love brings about a remarkable transformation for an ordinary toy bunny.
