As per Central Government Energy Conservation Act 2001 vide which it has became mandatory for the consumers having a installed thwith sanctioned load of 500 KW and as per The Gazette of India, Ministry of Law and Justice dated 25 August, 2010, there is an

amendment in the energy conservation act 2001, in which it is amended for section 2, clause (c) that buildings having a connected load of 100 Kilowatts (kW) or contract demand of 120 kilo-volt Ampere (KVA) and above is used or be used for commercial purposes, are to be Energy Audited every year from the ESCO Company Certified by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and adopt measures to improve their Energy consumption pattern.

National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) was released by Prime Minister of India under action plan on climate change in June 2008. This would unlock energy efficiency Potential of Rs. 74,000 crore approximately by annual saving of fuel of 23 million TOE, avoided generation of 19,000 MW & CO emission mitigation of 98 million tons per year under the program. Government of India sets 2

energy efficiency targets for the core sector which are to be achieved by 2014-15, failing which the companies shall be penalized. The government has notified the energy efficiencies improvement targets for the 478 most energy intensive industrial in first phase units which are designated consumers under Energy conservation act from Iron & Steel, Cement, Fertilizers, Aluminum, Pulp & Paper, Chlor-alkali, Textiles and Thermal power stations in India. This program will generate E-certificates which will be traded and bought by other units covered by the programme when companies find it expensive to meet their targets through their own actions. Units which are unable to meet their targets will be liable for heavy penalty. ESCert will help to sell the conserved KWH or Negawatt power to others.

Third Party Independent Evaluation Agency Energy Accounting (TPIEA-EA) has been appointed by PFC (nodal agency) in order to ensure that R-APDRP programme is implemented in fair & transparent manner. The main task of the TPIEA-EA is:

1. Establishing/Verification of (initial) Baseline AT&C losses for the project area as per the baseline methodology defined by the Nodal agency. 2. Annual Verification of AT&C losses of the project areas & state power utilities/distribution companies as per the methodology defined by the Nodal agency.

CurrentlyPranat is handling a big energy conservation project as a TPIEA-EA (Third Party Independent Evaluation Agency Energy Accounting) under R-APDRP (Restructured accelerated power development and reforms program) by Ministry of Power, Government of India & the nodal agency Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Ltd. for Himachal Pradesh state Electricity Board (HPSEB) Ltd. and Bihar/Jharkhand (Bihar State Electricity Board) Ltd.

The Ministry of Power ,Govt of India initiated Power Sector reforms in the 1990s.Distribution sector provides the last mile connectivity for power supply and deals with large no. of consumers. To continue the support to distribution reforms during the 11th Five year Plan, GOI has continued R-APDRP (Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Program).

The R-APDRP primarily aims at reducing Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT & C) losses in urban areas. It is a necessary condition of the scheme that the utilities would need to demonstrate performance improvement for availing financial benefits provided under the scheme. This scheme involves:

Setting up reliable & "no manual touch" systems for data collection.

Adoption of Information Technology in the areas of energy accounting.

Projects under this scheme are taken up in two parts. Part-A includes the projects for establishment of baseline data & IT applications for energy accounting/auditing. Part-B includes the regular distribution strengthening projects. Ministry of Power-Govt. of India has appointed Power Finance Corporation as the Nodal Agency for implementing this programme.

The Global Environment Facility implementation agency for this project is the World Bank and the two executing agencies are the Bureau of energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, govt. of India and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SDBI) launch a program to provide “Training to energy professionals (Energy Auditors, Energy Managers, and other energy specialists) with specific focus of energy efficiency in MSMEs.”

The “Financing Energy Efficiency at MSMEs” project is part of the Global Environmental Facility Programmatic Framework for Energy efficiency in India with a an objective to increase demand for energy efficiency investments in targeted MSMEs cluster and to build their clusters and to build their capacity to access commercial finance.

Main objective of providing of training would be to augment the skills of these energy professionals in energy auditing, in preparation of bankable DPRs, and in accessing commercial finance by MSMEs for energy efficiency investments.

1. Electronic BallastElectronic ballast having combination of electronic component and advance feature of a device which runs on low voltage and high frequency provides saving energy upto 50%.

2. Polymer ReflectorPolymer reflector are made up from Engineering grade polymer having parabolic design shop and mirror optics finish coating. It doubles the lux level and help to convert the double tube fitting into a single fitting by which inventory becomes half with 50% energy saving andreduce in maintenance cost.

3. CFL & T5 fittingsCFL and T5 fittings are the easily and cost effective substitute. Its saves upto 60% energy from the conventional light fittings. The life span of the CFL and T5 are double than the conventional fitting.

4. Electronic SensorPIR light switch is commonly known as daylight and occupancy sensor. It plays a vital role in energy saving with the help of PIR light switch will give benefits into daylight saving and also in the automatic operation of light as per the requirement. It gives saving upto 30% in light and AC.

5. LED LightsLED lights are the energy efficient substitute of the conventional light fittings. LED lights having huge potential of energy saving upto 70%. The life span is 10 times more than the conventional light fittings. It brings maintenance cost to zero level.

6. Energy Saver for ACCooling effect is a major issue of Air conditioner higher cooling is the wastage of power during the operation of air conditioner. Problem of Higher cooling is generally faced in air conditioners installed at ATM centers and also in home at night time. To reduce the power consumption and enhance the energy saving can be achieved with the help of AC energy saver 2having the micro-controller based programming system which works on the time and temperature based sensors.

7. Energy Saver for Cooling TowersCooling tower is worked on the forced fan cooling system. As the water gets cool then the CT fan is still running cause the wastage of power. To enhance the energy efficiency and to reduce the power consumption energy saver for cooling tower will introduce in the CT fan system. It control the operation of motor as per the temperature of the water to be cooled.

8. Generation through roof top Solar PanelsFlexible roof top solar power generation is the best way to use the solar power for homes & offices etc to run their appliances. It doesn’t required any specific structure. It can be installed at any Metallic or RCC structure produce clean energy and many more.
